Tracking exercise

Do you count heavy lifting and housework, like moving things up and down stairs? Or does it only count as excercise if you do the work in a gym or go for a walk outside?

You'll probably get a lot of different answers to this.
For me, I have my activity level set as "active", so I don't count my normal everyday cleaning and such. HOWEVER, if I steam clean, move furniture or scrub floors on my hands and knees? I count it. I don't do it all the time and it gets my heart pumping when I do.
I personally think you can get a good workout doing stuff around the house - as long as you don't do it everyday. If you do, your body is used to doing it and you should raise your activity level instead.0 -
Only if I have to deadlift the fridge to clean under it ;D0

To be on the safe side I set my activity level as 'sedentary' and therefore I count stuff like housework and gardening. But I've noticed that MFP over-estimates the calories burned by at least 10-20% so I always adjust the calories. Plus I don't eat back all of my exercise calories (most of the time!).0
