I have a treadmill, I have been uping my speed but still feel like I am going to slow. Mostly because when I log my exercise it says that its a lesurily pace!

I am going 2.7 mph and feel like I am going pretty fast. I have upped this from 2 when I started. I was just wondering for my weight and only been working out like this for a month am I doing ok?
What speed should I be at? Where is everyone else?

I think you should base this on how you feel when you are working out not what everyone else is at. By the end have you worked up a good sweat and do you feel a little winded? If so, it's not leisurely  Logging exercises can be misleading if your current weight and heart rate are not taken into account. Do you have a heart rate monitor? It would help you track your exercise calories more accurately.

By the way great job on the speed increase, I think that is a significant change in just a month.:flowerforyou:
  • I think your doing great...
I heard if you cant hold a conversation without being winded your doing good... If you are trying to catch your breath slower....

After about a month of doing a certin speed step it up a nock... N SO FORTH...
but always remember to change it up after 3 months... Your body gets used to it and will start to platue..

So try to lift weights and go outside on hills..

When i do the treadmill im winded at 6 mph... but i can hold a conversation at about 3 to 4
Good Luck and good work!! :drinker:

Yes, you are doing OK. In fact, you are doing great because you are getting up and doing something. 2.7 mph is considered a leisurely pace on average, but that doesn't mean it's too slow. You have improved from when you first started, and that's what counts. Eventually, that 2.7 will feel too easy for you, and you'll increase your pace. Just remember that you are often cabable of more than you think, but the only way to find out for sure is to give it a shot.

For me, if I'm walking, I'm usually going somewhere between 3.5 and 4mph.

You need to base it on how you feel. If you feel like you can still have a conversation then try and up the elevation instead of the speed. I have been going at 2.8 mph for 6 months and i just up the elevation when I think it's getting to easy for me rather than the speed.

If your treadmill does it, you could change your incline. I usually walk 3.5 MPH but on a 2 incline.
  • Thank you everyone! I feel better now! I guess doing something is better than nothing at all, and eventually I will loose enough that upping my speed will be easier.
