Keeping hands busy

Follow up on the late evening munchie thread. I do needlework at night to keep my hands busy so I'm not so inclined to munch when I'm chilin in front of the TV after a long day. I often work on puzzles too. Seems if I can keep my mind and hands occupied, I'm better at staying away from the mindless munchies.

Does anyone else have any things they do to keep their mind of getting up and running to the fridge during commercials?

  • I just don't keep anything in the house that I would be so tempted to sit and stuff myself with.

Maybe keep a couple of books in the room where you watch television?

I talk to people on the computer or on my phone. I also play with my cat, read, write, and do chores around the house.

I just took a knitting class last week. I've wanted to learn for awhile now, and I'm glad that I did, cuz it does give me something to do while watching tv instead of wanting to snack. On the down side, I just want to knit and have been doing that inside of exercising-UGH. It's always let me get a few rows done and that turns into a few more rows. But today I knitted for awhile and then exercised, just need to get things into balance. It is great to keep hands busy!!!
