Because today was a rest day for my exercise, decided to vacuum the house and then wondered about the # of calories burned....there is a online calulator for that! http://www.fitwatch.com/phpscripts/viewexercise.php?descr=vacuuming&mets=3.5
So in 30 min., I burned 111 calories (takes body weight into consideration). Pretty cool!

I wore my HRM yesterday and burned over 600 calories doing 90 minutes of cleaning.0

That "is" cool and yes, it certainly counts. If it's not something you do every day, it counts. Exercise is not just planned workouts. Do you think our ancestors planned to lift weights or run a mile just to lose a pound or two? No. They worked. That's the original exercise of the human race.0

It's in the MFP exercise database if yoou want to make it easier to track..0

That might even make me consider doing more of it!! Lol0

Well gosh darn, I might just clean my house now!!! It sounds like one should invest in a HRM. I'm going to check those out!0

If you are counting your housework as exercise, make sure your not counting it in your daily activity level. Lets say you work Monday-Friday and take 5000 steps through out the day, but you have off today and did some cleaning, it would not count because you are just making up for the daily day to day stuff you would normally do. However, if you have yourself set at sedentary then I would count it!0

I searched that first and didn't find a match.0 -

Search for "cleaning." There's light/moderate and heavy.0 -
Yes!! I've started cleaning every day because of this I also love running errands and shopping now because that TOO burns calories! "Driving can burn 122 calories per hour if you're a 160-lb. person. Walking slowly or standing burns around 152 calories per hour, but shopping burns 175 calories per hour for a 160-lb. person, according to FatSecret.com."

go here to find a wide range of calories burned doing lots of everyday activities. you can add them to your own MFP exercise database. But realize this probably only counts if you're counting on a "sedentary" level lifestyle, which I do, so that every little thing I do extra counts0
