Daily sugar intake

Every day I'm usually within my limits of everything except sugar. Seems like everything (including soup and milk) has sugar. My allowance is 28 if memory serves and I'm generally over by about 14 or 15. I'm not eating much in the way of sweets right now. I use sugar substitutes. I know sugar is a big problem for most of us but most of mine is hidden. Do any of you have the same problem? If not, how do you overcome it?
I just read that the gov recommends for women 24 grams a day. BUT, that's added sugar. I don't add sugar for the most part. So why does this site make that the daily allowance? Perhaps I'm missing something.

I just don't look at it. For me, it's clearly a matter of if i do, i'll be overcomplicating it.0 -
I guess lots of people don't monitor their sugar. You may have the right idea. It's a little depressing. Mine certainly isn't added sugar or lots of bread, etc. It's mostly the hidden kind. That doesn't make it right. But I'm seeing a pattern that tells me I need to go even more organic than I am now. Of course, fruits have lots of sugar. And, I eat lots of fruit.0

I don't worry about natural sugars. I do watch the added sugars and try to stay clear of them as much as possible. I try not to eat anything that has more than 5 grams of added sugar per serving.0 -
Carbs turn to sugar. And I find that the substitutes, are worse than real sugar. It is the sugar alcohols I think is the problem.0

I just talked to my trainer about this. She mentioned that I should monitor my added sugars, not fruit sugars. I know that all sugars count as carbs, but fruit sugar is a lot different than candy and added sugars in processed foods.
I feel like I don't need to monitor it too closely, because 1. I am hypoglycemic and have major trouble regulating my blood sugar and 2 I eat very little processed food. The only things that have added sugar that I eat on a regular basis is my instant oatmeal and my soy yogurt. Until they make a Greek soy yogurt, that's what I have to work with.0 -
In the United States, sugar is everywhere. Natural is better than processed, but at some level, it's still sugar. I'd recommend doing some research on the net. One interesting article can be found at http://nutritiondiva.quickanddirtytips.com/how-sugar-affects-your-body.aspx.
Everything in moderation, my friends.0 -
I am always over in Sugar and vitamin C. I don't eat a lot of sweets, but I do use regular sugar in my coffee.0
