Egg Beaters question

This morning after church we went to brunch...I ordered a baby spinach and feta omlette with egg beaters....it was SO good...like too good! Good to the point that I am wondering if it really was Egg Beaters, or whether they got my order wrong and I just ate more calories than I planned. My wheat toast WAS dry, so that part was correct....I know, I FIND things to worry about...

So, have you had an omlette with Egg Beaters, and if so, is it SO good that you couldn't tell the difference? I had an egg white omlette last week, and didn't love it...which is why I'm wondering.

Thanks, all!

I honestly can't tell the difference! Especially when spices and veggies are mixed in :D What a wonderful invention!

Me neither, they taste great and they look too similar to tell the difference.

Egg beaters are pretty decent, especially the Southwestern variety. :-)

Can't tell the difference either with Egg Beaters... I even get the off-brand "Better Than Eggs" and they're tasty. I do like eggwhites, but not a fan of their consistency. I like my eggs bouncy, but I tend to overcook the liquid egg whites. Hence the purchase of the Egg Beaters stuff. Easier for me to not burn LOL
  • Ahhh....my MFP peeps.....I love you all!! You ROCK!! Thanks for the great answers, and for not poking fun at me!!

    Why not use real eggs?

Thanks for pointing me to this! Honestly, I chose egg beaters to save calories. I like being armed with all the info, though. I plan to do some additional homework on the topic!

I agree. If they've got veggies, etc. in them they taste just like eggs. @lor007, one egg has about 230 mg of cholesterol. If you eat any meat the same day you eat one egg, you'll be over the recommended allowance.

If you are young and healthy then eggs are probably not a big deal in moderation. Do you have cholesterol issue then eggs are not as good. As to Egg Beaters, read the label, if you think Guar or Xanthan gum are chemicals then you just took a lot of foods off the table. Other than that it's eggs and spices.

Real eggs are a real, whole food. Egg beaters are processed junk.
  • I've never opened a carton of Egg Beaters and poured out an embryo or bloody yolk.
Nor had to pick out eggshells.......

    That's WHY I use it....saving calories/cholesterol is a BONUS.

I tried egg beaters, it may look a bit like eggs, but there was no mistaking that something was wrong. My 2 year old agreed.............in the trash they went..............I will stick with my whole eggs and a few egg whites.

It was worth a shot, but not likely to happen again..........
  • I do use the whites though.
I can't seem to ever separate the yolk and white at 5 am lol xD
