                    Hi,
I have just started on my weight loss / fitness journey. I have joined a gym and my trainer has suggested I eat 6 small meals a day. How on earth do people manage this? What is a small meal? I don't think I can manage 6 meals a day. Just after some advice really on your food intake, particularly on training days. I am aiming to get to the gym 3-4 times a week.
Thanks,
Gemini10

Its easy once you figure out your calories per day.
My breakfast is Huge and always has about 40g of protein.
My first snack is a nuts mixture.
 Lunch
Second snack has fruit and possible protein shake.
 Dinner
Third snack is always a large bowl of cereal before bed.
Friend me so you can see how I have my diary set up because you can change yours to reflect the different meals.
The idea on the extra meal frequency is to rev up the metabolism!0

I don't have 6 meals, but I do have 5 which works just fine for me. I eat every 3 hours or so which prevents me from getting hungry all the time and also keeps me from craving food.
You technically don't "need" to eat 5 or 6 meals a day, just whatever works for you. The idea of revving your metabolism eating more often has been debunked as myth. It does have other benefits, though, as mentioned above.0

Feel free to add me as a friend so you can see my food diary. I'm doing 6 meals/day with 1200 calories per day. The easy way is 500-400-300. Big breakfast (300-350 calories) to fuel up. Eat the other 150-200 as a mid-morning mini-meal. 300 calorie lunch and a 100-calorie mini-meal. 200-300 calorie dinner with 50-100 calorie evening snack.
The purpose is to stabilize your blood sugar levels which helps quell cravings and make it easier to stick to your plan.0

How are you feeling at the end of the day with such low calories?
Are you under 4 foot tall?0
