I eat about 80% of my daily calories after 8pm.

The timing of when you eat is totally irrelevant. You could, in theory, eat all your calories right before you go to bed. It makes no difference. This "late night eating is bad" thing is just a myth. What happens normally is people eat their daily calorie amount during the day, THEN eat late at night, thus creating a calorie excess and gain weight, and they blame it on the late night eating, when it was simply that they made a calorie surplus.

  • That is what I've heard. I don't eat after 7pm, If I get hungry I usually grab a hot cup of tea.

I also eat most of my calories at night. I am a night eater and save my calories for it. It has not hurt my weight loss. As long as I save my calorie.

There are other reasons for not eating late at night before sleep. It can promote gastro-esophageal reflux, but weight loss issues are just a myth.

I dont- but I also go to bed at about 10- so whaveter I eat just sits there. I do brush my teeth at or around 7 on nights I am home, though, to prevent myself from eating.

Its really a personal thing- every body reacts differently, I just know I take in the bulk of my calories during the day & dont want to eat at night bc I cant afford the calories.

I only do that for weigh-ins. To maintain a sense of consistency.

i prefer not to eat within two hours before bed, but just because i don't like laying down with a full stomach, but not for any metabolism reasons.

Exactly. I skip breakfast, and only have a 200ish cal lunch. I do this as i know i will want the bulk of my cals later. As long as you plan ahead, it's fine!

I eat six small meals a day started at 8am and ending about 9pm. I eat my carbs early in the day and protein at night.

I've done a bit of research on this topic, and what I keep finding is that it is a myth. The only reason why it isn't recommended to eat late at night is because you have a greater chance of sufferring from indigestion, gas, and heartburn when laying in bed. I have acid reflux, so eating a big meal an hour before I go to bed usually results in an awfully painful and uncomfortable night, haha.

What do you mean by "just sits there?" it gets digested and used just like any other time you eat.

When you sleep your body goes in a relaxed state, you are still burning calories, you just aren't being active and burning more on top of that. Either way your metabolism is still working.

I mean I lay in bed and feel like I have rocks in my tummy- i dont sleep well when I eat later at night- and for me, personally, i regret it each time.

I've also read where sleeping on a full stomach can lead to nightmares. I've noticed this in my own eat/sleep patterns. But the slowing down your metabolism is a myth.
