Has anyone here use jenny craig or any other diet plans while using this site? I find I do better with meals that are pre prepared. I find that I can follow that more easily than cooking my own meals. Can I incorporate Jenny Craig with this site?

I ran a search in the food database for Jenny Craig and came up with a lot of hits. So it looks like others have done jenny craig here.

I don't use jenny craig but I think others here have. I think it's ok if you need a crutch like that to start off with, but you can't do it forever, so you run the serious risk of gaining the weight back once you stop. It's much better to take on learning to weigh, measure, and prepare your own meals, as this is a skill you can continue using forever. Also those pre-packaged meals are full of sodium and preservatives and are much more costly that preparing your own foods. Like I said, as a crutch to transistion it may be useful but I certainly wouldn't do it long term.

A friend of mine, Karri, that I work with, has now come off 76 lbs with Jenny Craig and she loves it. She has now started using the recipes and cooking it for her self and she said she feels great nad she looks so much better.

i totally agree with what kerri said... i know at first you may seem a bit lost and not sure what to eat but in reality it doesn't even matter so much what you eat as long as you eat it in moderation and you try to substitute the unhealthy and too caloric parts of your favourite dishes with a lighter version. it's the true way to stick to it forever because we only have one life and we don't deserve to feel like punished while losing weight because we have to eat something that we don't really want to eat but it's on the eating plan for dinner... :ohwell:

on the other hand, there are many recipes on MFP itself, plus i've seen a thread where some people shared their food journals every day, so you can do a search, get some ideas and adjust it to your own taste

  • Thanks guys for your input. I know jenny craig is really expensive and I don't plan on being on it for long, but I am in the military and really don't have the time to put together my meals and my husband does it, but poor thing just does his best and I am grateful.

I also agree that it's not all about what we eat, but how much and also watching the calories. I am using a 1500 cal and after adding my exercise calories, I still have over 1200 to go and the day is almost over and I am full. So with you guys help, I am going to give this my best shot. Mahalo!!
