So, I was watching the news this morning while I was getting ready for work and I heard them say that for a healthy body, Women need 9 glasses of water and men should take 13. This was said to help with weight loss. If anyone can re confirm this please post.
Thanks!

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THAT! I love my water! I drink min. 14 glasses a day. I could likely add "running to the washroom" to my cardio list :laugh:0

The standard for drinking water was set back in the 1940's and has never been updated. Most doctors today tell you to drink enough to keep yourself hydrated and that number is really dependent on each individuals personal demands.
Many people have theories about whether cold water helps you burn more weight than room temp water but, again, these are suppositions that have little basis in fact.
For me personally, I notice that if I keep my intake to about 8 bottled waters a day (that's really 16 eight ounce glasses) I am able to keep my weight loss at a steady downward trend.
My suggestion to you would be to try it out and let us know if that theory actually pans out for you. You need to also realize that over hydrating can be dangerous so just drink to the level that your body wants water and don't over do it. Bob0 -

I saw my mom when I was on vacation last week. I say that, to say this....I've never in my entire 52 year life, ever, not even once, seen my mother drink a glass of water. When I was thinking about that today, I had to also think about all of her health issues, which she's also had for my entire life. I won't pretend to say that water will cure cancer, but I have to wonder if it would of helped with the plethora of other ailments she suffers from. I think that's why it's such a hot topic for me and my daughter right now.
There's so much debate about this. Me, I drink at least 10 eight ounce glasses every day, more if I want it. I never force myself to drink more, and I have it so nicely worked into my meal plans that I do it naturally with no thought. It really helps that I don't like beverages like soda or tea or juice. Now everybody get up and get a drink of water. :drinker:0 -
The only thing I can say about this is, it's generic. I'm not sure how they can just put out there that every guy needs 13 glasses. I mean, I'm 193 lbs, I have a buddy that's no bigger then 150. Should we have the same amount? I have another friend who is 260, should he and my first friend have the same amount (that's a whole person difference, pounds wise)?
I just wish they said something like "for the average male, 5'10" and 170 lbs, you need 13 glasses", I'm sure that's what they mean anyway.
It's stupid and nit picky, I know, but I'm a virgo, and sometimes my meticulousness shines through. Course, my wife calls it annoying obsessiveness, but... six-o-one... I guess.0 -
