I am far from a gourmet, so...how do you seperate out the egg yolk to get just egg whites? I am trying to save $$ by not buying egg beaters, and not get all the calories of a whole egg. TIA :)

There are several ways but heres two

Buy an egg white separator tool at target or walmart or someplace similar, will cost you 2-3 bucks and you place it on top of a cup and crack the egg over it aiming for the middle, the yolk will stay on the tool and the white falls through some holes into the cup

or the free way is to crack you egg and let hold half the egg so the yolk stays in it then you use the empty half of the egg shell to hold the yolk back until the white separates and there you go.

Another free way....crack teh egg into your hand and hold your fingers slightly apart and gently roll the yolk around until the white is separated

Hope one of those options works for you, I prefer the second one

There are several ways, I crack the egg and then move the yolk from one side of the shell to the other allowing the white to fall into the bowl. You can also Pour the egg over your fingers letting the yolk rest there as the white falls between them. I prefer the first method as it is less messy
If you want a little color use one yolk and the rest whites, it turns out pretty good.
  • You can purchase a cute little gizmo at Bed Bath and Beyond or any kitchen store.. just prop that little gizom on a cup and break your egg into it... yolk stays, white goes into the cup :)
