...guys compliment my voice? It's a little strange...

I work in the medical industry and am on the phone all the time with patients dealing with insurance and payment. I will often be talking to men and during the conversation they will make comment about my having a sexy voice, they even apologize because they don't want to sound forward or rude. I have a few who actually call to pay each month on the phone, just to talk with me for a couple minutes. What should I say- I usually kind of laugh it off, say thanks, and keep talking...I mean, they mean it as a compliment, right? Or is it inappropriate because its a "business" call?

I would just say thank you I get that all the time and continue on with the business. If they continue and it makes you uncomfortable at all (doesn't sound like it does though) cut them off. Otherwise enjoy the compliments :)
  • I have the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame problem! I work for a cellular company in their billing department so I spend all day on the phone. (yay..call center...) and I'm constantly hit on because of my voice. I do just what you're doing...laugh it off. It always kind of cracks me up 'cause I get a lot of 'em hitting on me when I'm sitting here telling them their phone services has been suspended due to non-payment because of multiple returned checks...like how you gonna holla at a girl and promise her things when you can't even pay the $60 a month for your cell...

I have heard that voice over companies for movies, commercials, tv etc. look for ladies who have a natural "sexy" voice. If all else fails that could be a rather interesting industry to work in.

I get that too but when I'm playing xbox live...

It's hysterical but my advice would be to not say anything. It's a bit odd to blurt that out to someone calling you about your bills. Maybe they hope you'll forget about the reason you called and they won't have to pay those pesky medical bills.

LOL! When I was in college, I actually made audio recordings for students who were sight impaired or had some other difficulty with written tests, etc...a part-time job on the side through the school office. The administrative assistant used to laugh and tell me that some of the guy students who used the recordings would often ask for my name and how I could be reached (which they thankfully didn't give out!).

Thinking maybe I should have a different career...hmm...
