Does this sound right?

I went walking and walked at a pretty fast pace for 70 minutes pushing my daughter in her stroller, she weighs 37 pounds, then switched off and pushed my son in his stroller, he weighs 30 pounds. Well, I was using my heart rate monitor but I couldn't stay within the limits so I turned the limits off and it said that I burned 631 calories. Does that sound right to you guys?

That seems high for walking...even if it was at a fast pace
I would half that....

But you gotta admit she was pushing weight to it sounds accurate to me kids can make a load heavy especially pushing them but the other chic say cut in half idk thats tough one0 -
Were you carrying either one at any time? And were you going up hilly terrain. If so then it probably is right.0

My Fitness Plan takes your current weight into consideration when calculating burned calories...does your monitor do that too? I think the average calculation for walking is 100 calories for every hour walked. That doesn't take into consideration weight or terrain.0

nope not carrying either one, but yes we went up a bunch of hills.0 -

I have to put my weight, age, height into my polar 6 heartrate monitor. we walked 3 miles.0 -
Using this formula if you were at/near your max heart rate it probably is right
C/min =( (-20.4022) +( 0.4472 * C5) - (0.1263 x C6) + (0.074 x C7)) / 4.184
C5 is heartrate C6 is weight in Kg C7 is ageWere you carrying either one at any time? And were you going up hilly terrain. If so then it probably is right.

I just walked for 25 minutes pushing a double stoller and burned 233. So yours sound right.0

Did it feel like a workout or a leisurely stroll? I am guessing that you had a good heart rate going! I rarely burn less than 500 calories in an hour, so that doesn't seem high at all. If I have to push my kids up a hill in a stroller, I literally huff and puff!
Enter those 600+ calories girl!

a workout, I could still talk but not without huffing and puffing. yes, had a very good heartrate going. thanks:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
Yep when I go out walking, I walk very fast...and I always burn about 500 cals in an hour and 15 mins. My heart rate is definitely up there so I know it's accurate. I'd believe you burned that much! Great job! :flowerforyou:0

yup its right- always go with the HRM-- don't doubt it they are great tools to let you know if you need to push harder or back off some- Good job on your workout-0

That's pretty close to what my pedometer tells me-I had to program in weight & stride.
I walk 30-40 minutes as fast as I can - puffing & sweating & burn about half what you did.
Good job!0 -
thanks you guys0

I don't know if I understand your question correctly, but regardless of what limits you have set, as long as it's reading your heart rate it's calculating your calories based on that. So, yes, it would be accurate.0 -
Laura i would trust it. I know when i do alot of yard work i burn insane calories the bigger we are the more we burn. good job btw. keep it up you are looking great!0

It sounds right, you burn MORE than 100 calories per hour walking, otherwise you must not be walking. Anyway at my height and weight I went to three sites and the average was 519 calories for a 70 minute walk at 3mph (basically what you did) and I wasn't pushing a stroller so your HRM is probably really close if not right on.
Good job :flowerforyou:0 -

Hey Laura, how you doing? Your total sounds right to me. I walk 4.75 miles in 90minutes and burn about 600per my HRM, so yours sounds good.
