I did RPM (Les Mills spinning class) last night and my bottom is killing me! Despite it being quite funny, I'm twitching even sitting still!

I used a gel cover too...................does anyone have any advice for me on how to take the aches and pains away, or even how to prevent this from happening!?

For the hour's class, I burnt off a wopping 671 calories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely worth a bash!!!

Keep exercising!! :) It's the only way to get your body used to that level of exercise... (but maybe ramp down the intensity if you feel like it's too painful)

Do you know what, the class was hardcore! I tried as much as I could to do the cycling out of the saddle but I got this burning through my legs and the trainer said that was from the build up of lactic acid! So after an hour or sweating my *kitten* off (and I mean, it was dripping off me) I had an achey bum and "fire" legs lol

I don't know if they do padded shorts or pants for spinning! That seat just killed my bum! You'd think considering I have some padding on my *kitten*, I'd of been alright....but nooooo!!! lol

It was a good work out and, the music did help you blast through the class!!!!

Buy the padded shorts. Worth the money! It will stop the lady pain :)

You can get them at a cycle shop or amazon. Look for biking shorts

i have been doing the les mills for maybe around 6 months now
your bum never gets used to it
my friend has the bike shorts but her *kitten* still hurts too
sometimes it can be the position of the seat that makes it hurt more....
i still think i will invest in some bike shorts tho just need the money to pay for them
i find it helpful after a track to get up and cycle for a bit standing on a low gear just to stretch out
but the pain is worth it with the calories you burn....its insane =D

Took to a fair bit of cycling this summer and had the same thing, the shorts and exposure to the seat helped.

I guess my bum just got used to the abuse.
  • I've never really done a spinning class, but I do cycling a lot on my stationary bike. My bum hurt so much after the first 2 minutes that I couldn't do any more. I ended up buying a gel padded seat that cost more than my bike but was it ever worth it - can do an hour now without too much discomfort. I say get the padded shorts and anything else you can that makes it easier on the behind!

    Hi

Get a cheap pair of cycling shorts with the padded section. Once you switch to these you will wonder how you ever managed without :) This goes for outdoor cycling too! Oh and I don't believe in gel saddle covers... less is more as far as saddles are concerned, imho ;-)

Good luck wth it! I have only done 2 spinning classes so far but found them really good and really hard!
  • lol i had the same problem when i first started i do 5-6 spin classes a week now it just takes time for your but to build up a resistance to the spin bikes i started about 2 months ago and now it doesnt even effect me any more but keep at it !!!!!!!!
  • Once you do 3 classes a week - it won't hurt anymore!

I have the knicks (padded bike shorts) but only wear them for 90 minute plus rides. In spin classes I don't need to. I guess my bottom is just used to it.

Stick with it and your bottom will get used to it too!

You'll also find that getting out of the saddle to ride, will become easier too!

    Love RPM!

If you enjoyed it (and I found that the more I did it, the more I liked it) then it's definitely worth buying the padded cycling shorts. I found my bum was okay by the third or fourth workout.

I got cheap padded stretchy shorts (£8) and long trousers (£11) from Sports Direct.
They are the the MuddyFox brand, seem to be good quality and very comfortable, Plenty of their shops around or order on-line.
