Just a little thing not to be taken too seriously, but what we're mostly trying to do on here is LOSE weight, not LOOSE it. Our clothes may get LOOSE when we LOSE a few lbs of course.

That said, if surplus pounds were LOOSE that may imply they would drop easily from our bodies.

So lets hope for LOOSE pounds that we can LOSE easily.

OK lecture over.

Good luck with that. It's in the same boat as they're/their/there, it's/its, and then/than (never understood how that one got confused!).

lulz, it kinda saddens me, too, when people confuse loose/lose, then/than, it's/its, their/there/they're, to/too. as a matter of fact, check this out! the first words tackled by one of my favorite webcomics: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/misspelling

Loose can be used correctly in this context, if used to mean 'set free.'
Such as: Let loose the dogs of war.
Let loose the tissue of adipose!
