Healthy fat?

Almost every day, I go over my fat count on MFP. It's mostly due to almond butter at breakfast, hummus at lunch and flaxseed throughout the day. I'm pretty sure these are all "good fats" but should I be concerned? I mean, do I need to cut down even the good fats in my diet, or is this ok?

You will be fine with healthy fats. Saturated fats in the number to watch.

Those are good fats, and are healthier. As long as they don't cause you to go over your calories for the day you are fine.

well YEA! They sneak up on you and stick to your *kitten* while you sleep. I hear that a good spanking makes the bad fats go away.

The good thing about fats is that they make you feel fuller and more satisfied. I was looking at my stats recently and noticed I consumed fewer calories overall on the days I ate more fat.
  • ok thanks guys! I had a feeling the healthy fats were ok. I just hate seeing that red number at the bottom with my stats.

You can change your macro goals if it bugs you. MFP has the fats set pretty low.

The only down-side to the fats you're eating is they add more calories than something else might, but in exchange they provide some pretty great poly-unsaturated fats. And fats help you feel full longer, so I'm all in favor of them.

I don't try for a specific target on fats on my macros. The only thing I worry about right now is protein and calories. (no, I'm not on a low carb diet)

As long as I'm within my cal goal I don't worry myself about the amount of fat I consume. I focus on getting enough protein and the fats and carbs fall into place.
