I used MFP to lose my weight and am continuing to use it as I work to maintain. I'm logging everything I eat and being as dedicated to my maintenance as I was while losing. This is what I NEED to do for me -- it's working so far

I am the same way. I lost 60 lbs to get into the military and after my 4 yr stint, I got out and gained it all back. I am hoping this time to keep off the weight for good. It is not fun to work so hard to lose it, only to gain it all back.

I hope that MFP will keep me accountable.
I hope that I am more mature and able to make better decisions.
I hope that this time I realize that food is tasty for a minute but being fit is a long lasting GREAT feeling!

Find what motivates you and push hard! Good luck :)
  • I guess the one thing I can tell you is keep a diary of everything you eat and publish it for all your friends to see. They'll give you pointers and you can mix and match!
  • I think the best piece of advice is be honest - make sure you log every single thing you eat/drink. Sometimes when I'm feeling extremely demotivated I think 'well if I don't log it then it doesn't count' or 'no one will know if I don't log it'. No one on here is going to shout at you.

Also, you need to accept that we all have bad days when we may completely blow our diets. The important thing is to get back up again, tomorrow is a new day!

Send me a friend request if you want

Me too! I am the proverbial yo-yo dieter. Since May I have committed to exercising regularly, and I joined MFP in July. I am slowly but steadily losing and I think that's the key for me. I still struggle with food choices, but logging it all keeps it real for me.

    Good luck!
  • Thanks for the advice! Lost 5 pounds in the first week. Is a struggle at times; but, I am determined
