What keeps you motivated?

Hi! I am pretty new here at MFP and even though I've been counting calories on and off for years and know most about it I think this is a great way to easily keep track of what you're eating! And the possibility to get to talk to others seems really good as well
But I know myself. I'm motivated for a couple of weeks, then I just kind of give up. Or more like I stop caring as much. So my question is, what keeps you guys motivated? I mean, I've seen so many amazing stories here, it would be great to hear some tips

My motivation is the fact that I can move more...I wasnt able to do this last year..and it feels A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
The energy...the fact that I can throw anything on..and not worry if it looks stupid cause its too tight..
The fact that my hubby keeps picking me up cause he can...0 -

A great support system. My friend and I are doing this together. Always available to her via text and she for me. Helps to also have a supportive spouse (which I do):blushing: You will do fine if you just keep posting questions, concerns, ideas : )0

These days (I'm 50) my motivation is health more than anything else. When I was closer to your age I thought about health but vanity was the biggest motivation.0

So many things... now! At first it was so difficult to stay motivated. The world is full of temptations and all of them easy to get.
Then I buckled down (I'm doing a burlesque show in a month) and started eating well and working out everyday. It feels so awesome! I don't feel anything jiggly on my body when I walk. People greet me with "Hey skinny girl", it's great. My clothes fit so much better and my boyfriend also picks me up all the time now because he can.
Also, both my parents have serious health issues. I'm only 25 and worry that my parents won't live to see their grandchildren. Some of their aliments come from obesity. When I finally made the connection I made a promise to myself, my partner and my future children that I would never put them through that worry. I plan to keep that promise0 -
Yeah the temptations... It's hard not to fall back into old patterns because they are literally everywhere. I try not to keep junk food of any kind at home but it's pretty hard since my boyfriend loves it even more than I do (of course, he won't gain any weight...). I'm not overweight, I just want to get a leaner body, which I think is one of the reasons I tend to quit, since it's not a health risk.
I can really see how fear of losing someone because of obesity would encourage healthy living and it's really good of you to be able to keep things up. Maybe I should aim for getting those kinds of greetings too!
I did gain about 12 lbs last fall, which I didn't realize before I stepped on the scale in january, which was when I decided to go back and join my old gym again. So I lost the weight I had gained in a couple of months but then I kind of settled with that, instead of getting encouraged to actually lose some more. Haha, I don't know what's wrong with me but I guess I'll have to try to stick to it long enough to get results and don't give up when I do this time0
