I have been doing horrible the last few days on staying in my limitations. I noticed that I have been going over on sodium a lot. And it mostly seems to come from my lunches. I normally take a wrap for lunch with turkey or ham lunch meat, or something like tuna or canned chicken. Does anyone have any advice for me? What can I substitute for lunch or is there something I should buy instead. I always buy deli lunchmeat. If you have any alternatives to bread or wraps that are lower in calories and know somewhere you can get them that would also be great!

Someone always ask how your water intake is and I get in at least 7 glasses of water a day. I have my goals set at 1360c calories, 68 carbs (I am sensitive to carbs) 45 fat 170 protein 20 sugar and 2500 sodium. I try to get in at least a half hour of cardio a day. Somedays I don't get it in and double up the next day or something. I typically walk for 20 minutes at work and then come home and do the elliptical for an additional 20 mins. If I didn't walk at work 40mins to an hour. I also do my boflex every other day.

Any advice or tips to help lose weight would be great. I went up 2 lbs this week :(

  • I actually get chicken breast or skinless tenders and bake it up for the week for my wraps, wayyyyyy less sodium.

Noticed my sodium today was WAY higher than my limit and it shocked me that some of the things I eat were so high in sodium too. I am looking forward to seeing who responds to your topic and hopefully can hear some advice to combatting the sodium intake and suggestions to keep from getting water retention. :(

Have you looked into lower sodium lunch meats? They honestly don't taste any difference. =]
  • I don't see how that made you go up though, you should be losing with that eating and exercising, give it another week and see how it goes.

You can wash the tuna. Just drain it in a strainer with water. Get rid of the salt. I buy Tuna that has no salt. But you have to buy that at the health food store or Whole Foods. Stay away from soups unless they have very little sodium or none. I know they taste better with salt. Allow yourself only one high sodium food per day. I had to make that decision today because yesterday I too went over. Sodium is one thing you don't want to go over --- ever.

I've only gone over one day, which sort of surprises me because I know that most foods have a ton of sodium in them. But the key is to eat whole foods, organic foods. Read labels. Only you can control what you allow inside your body and what you eat determines your health and your appearance.
  • almost any deli/packaged meat is higher in sodium than fresh cooked. try cooking your own chicken breast or ground turkey. ham is already higher in sodium because of the way it is processed.
and whole lettuce leaves are a good (although they can be messy) alternatives to bread.

I'm not saying that the sodium is what is making me gain weight or not lose. I just noticed that for the past couple days I have been over on my sodium and didn't know if maybe that was affecting it.

I am going to try making the chicken and turkey for the wraps and see if that helps. I actually had just made some for tomorrow. Any help is greatly appreciated.
