I'm so annoyed with myself. I'd been doing really well with my diet and eating and exercising better, but for some reason over the last week I've been craving huge amounts of suagr, and have been eating a lot of rubbish foods.

Does anyone have any advice for curbing these cravings? I sit down all day at work so always have ample time to snakc, but I struggle to stomach healthy snacks during the day.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Don't surround yourself with bad foods. Instead only have healthy foods available.

Exactly. If you don't have it-you can't eat it.

ONLY pack healthy foods so you can't turn to rubbish. I've been doing that the past few days and even though I REALLY wanted sweets today and would have eaten a ton, I have absolutely none at my desk so I had to eat the apple I brought instead. Fruit is a good alternate to sweets. Popcorn or celery or carrots is a good alternate for chips.

Try to drink sweet herbal tea when you want something sweet, or chew on a delicious piece of gum.

It's really mind games and you have to find a way to convince yourself that you don't really want the sweets.

Honestly, I avoid snacking on crap by doing 2 things: I don't bring crap with me, and I don't keep cash so I cannot buy stuff from the vending machine. Most people at my work don't have junk food to share, so that helps too.

I try, but I walk on my lunch break and there's a shopping centre across the road from work. I feel like I have no self control or discipline. Maybe I need to do mind training exercises or something! :)

Great idea, leaving your cash at home too.

This is what I do too.

I was one of those, always craving sweets especially right after lunch. So now in my drawer are apples, and Planter's Nutrition nuts (little bags of nuts so you don't overeat) and i bring snap peas, you can eat quite a few for a single serving, they are sweet and crunchy so they satisfy a couple of cravings.
  • If I'm having a hard time with sugar/wheat cravings I switch to high protein and veggies for a bit (low carb/sugar). Works really well for me:)

I know exactly what you mean, I have vending machines at work, I have a cafe downstairs, and a heap of other place to buy food only a short distance away. I find the best way to avoid temptation is preparation. If I have lunch before I go for a walk during the day I'll be a lot less tempted to buy something.

Another little trick I have is to keep some gum or sugar free mints in my office. If I start to crave something bad, I'll have one of these. It works for me anyway.
  • To get rid of the sugar cravings use cinnamon. I cut up an apple into circle slices and sprinkle it with a liberal dose of cinnamon. It tastes like eating raw apple pie :) . You can also sprinkle it on baked sweet potato, and that will be like pie too and will help balance your blood sugar and stave off cravings. You can also put it on cottage cheese, which will give you a nice protein boost.

Fit moderate amounts of foods you enjoy into you calorie goal before the cravings get out of control

Apple Cider Vinegar (although really gross and awful tasting) will break sugar cravings. 2T 3x/day. Be ready with a big glass of water to chase.

Also try brushing your teeth with a strong minty toothpaste.

    blessings.

I always find it harder to resist certain foods around that "time of the month" so I'm not sure if this is your case but maybe should walk while listening to music or call someone to talk to them while you're walking and distract your mind from the shopping centre.

Take a picture of yourself with your phone and look at that as you walk so you have a mental image of what you look like. Maybe that may help you to not want to take those extra couple of steps to the shopping center to buy things that will only add to what you are trying to lose. It is really hard to retrain your body definitely.

Good tips...I'm going to try this!
  • I found having the 100 calorie packs near me at all times help. They give you enough to satisfy the craving and still keeping you on track.

90 calorie fiber one bars or special k bars are a great sweet treat that satisfies without much damage!
