 I started Alli yesterday and my start weight was 153 and this morning when I woke up and weighed myself I was 151!!! I have heard so many conflicting things about Alli but I am going to post some of the good things I have seen so far... I do not think it is a "magic" pill. I do think that it is a SURE way to make you stop and think about what you are eating. If you do not follow the recommended 15g of fat per meal you will have the really bad side effect of crapping your pants. I have not had that happen but I am also sticking to the fat gram count. I thought it was going to be very hard, but in fact its not!!! I do see why I have put on these 30 pounds I need to lose, I was eating soooo many foods that were highin fat and not eating regular meals. This pill WILL make you watch what you eat!! I think for those of us who have a hard time sticking to "diets" it is a great tool in the whole plan of diet and exercise. Its also approved by the FDA which is somewhat reassuring. I so far, have not had any side effects like with other "diet" pills, no racing heart, no shaking. Its not anappetitie suppresant so you have to be smart on your choices of food and snaks. There are alot of great foods out there that give you the "snak" feeling without being a big old fattining chocolate bar...lol I will keep posting my results. If anyone else is on Alli or has any questions I will be here daily.

Good Luck to all!!! IT'S SWIMSUIT SEASON, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

Well, I think this is the first reason for taking Alli that I think is actually true. Mind you, I still don't think pills for weight loss is the right way to go. But at least your reasoning is correct, you screw up while taking Alli, and yeah, you're going to see some immediate and nasty side effects.

Good luck! I still say a pill isn't the answer, you can't take it forever, so eventually, you're going to have to face the reality of eating right on your own. I hope your strategy works for you though. Everyone's different, so maybe it will.
  • I think and hope it will HELP to retrain the way I think about food which is what it is already making me do. I am not a big pill fan either, but as a mom it is so hard to stay on track with eating. We are always running and its hard to STOP and think about the right thing to eat. I think this pill is kinds like a big mean person in the back of your mind threatining you to do the right thing. I just think that some people need that to help them along.

I don't think this is for everyone, I think if you have trouble with the will power end of losing weight then this will give you that lil extra push.

I am very happy it is making me change my thought process on food. I used to eat just to eat and now I eat to nurish my body. I think that your right, we are all different and some things work for others and some of us need a lil kick in the rear to push us to do the right things.

    Thanks for your reply....

darling welcome the only real way is the hard way. since i joined i lost 10kg and would definately continue. and the only way i stay motivated was to do some daily exercise at least 3 times a week and as little or as much time as i could get "free".
i am looking into ways on how to keep doing so now that i have discovered that i am 6 weeks pregnant. it all becomes tricky. and i can say thank God i wasnt using any pills or tonics to drop that dress size. discovery is that it's all mind over matter. you should become your own motivation for loosing weight u will feel great and save money the natural way. you can do it i am sure of it.
welcome you at the right place

Please don't do it sweetheart. There is no magic pill to weight loss. These people make billions of dollars of our money each year because they appeal to the very core of what we want. Consistence is the key. It's only been a day since you started your Alli so, you are not going to see the side effects right away. Alli stops the absorption of fat by the small intestine. Not only does it stops the absorption of fat, it also stops the absorption of lipid soluble vitamins and that is why there is a big deal in taking multivitamins. It is important to consume the good kind of fat, your omega 3 and omega 6s and I don't think Alli will be able to tell the good and bad fats apart. I personally don't think that's the way to go. For forty dollars a month for their pill you can either pay for gym membership. If You have gym membership already you could pay for maybe two sessions with a personal trainer to change your workout routine to keep things exciting and avoiding a plateau. But if you gonna do it anyways:smile: GOOD LUCK THOUGH AND HOPE IT GOES WELL FOR YOU..LET ME KNOW HOW IT WORKS FOR YOU...

Good luck with Alli, I think it is a good way to retrain yourself on how to eat as if you indulge in, for example, an order of french fries, you will be paying miserably! I took it when it still required a perscription, about 8 years ago, and needless to say, I was young and didn't follow the rules exactly. I stopped taking the pill and didn't lose any weight. I don't think it will hurt to take, and it is NOT a magic pill, keep us updated on how it works for you. I also found that the newer otc version of Alli is not as strong as the perscription one, so maybe the side effects aren't as, well, unpleasant!

  • Thank you very much. I have gotten some people telling me to stay away from it but so far its been great. I will take it until I lose the 20 pounds or so and hopefully at that point I will have retrained my brain to not overindulge in the fast food, quick fix meals. Im a mom on the go so its hard to resist, but the Alli is really helping me think, I certainly do not want to have any accidents.
Thaks Again & good luck to you

    Thanks for everyone who posted!!
