  • hi, I also have PCOS. Its hard to diet with PCOS at the beginning but it does get easier!! I reduced my carb intake, which us with PCOS crave carbs. So the first two weeks was hard! But now I don't crave them at all. In fact its been about 2 wks since I had anything sweet at all. The key is to eat lean meats, lots of veggies, and make sure you get lots of protein! Feel free to ask any questions!
  • Hi I was also diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago & until now I still can't get normal monthly period plus I become full blown diabetic because of that. Its really tough when you have that condition but don't give up. One thing I have to advice you is don't diet & instead, make baby steps. Stick to healthy eating but make sure that you create a deficit plus exercise helps to control insulin levels (which is the biggest factor of the weight gain). It was a slowww journey during my first 3 months although I lost a few inches but dress size remains the same but since I start to lift doing more serious weight training exercises along with my cardio, my metabolism skyrocketed making my body lose weight & inches like crazy. Now I lost almost 10 inches on my waist, 4 dress sizes from 2XL/ L plus size to regular M or S (perhaps more than 6 dress sizes as far as US sizing is concerned) & 21 kgs. plus my strength & endurance levels increased so much so that I'm now back to my old athletic self currently playing football, martial arts & swimming. Honestly I never thought that I would lose this big & be like this before.

Although we are all built differently & we may have different genetic tendencies but the thing is that, its not impossible to lose weight with this condition. All of us can do it, its just a matter of determination, perseverance & of course the discipline. Anyway feel free to add me as your friend.

Thanks for the link, Morgan! I have had PCOS for about 8 years now and also have found that cutting back on carbs is a huge help in losing the weight. It is NOT EASY, but is a huge help towards being successful. My doctor has told me over and over again, do not compare yourself to others! Your body is not like theirs, and you will not lose as easily or as quickly. With that said, I have always tried to be excited about each and every pound, even when they are coming off slow as molasses! LOL It's really hard when you workout with someone else who puts in the same (or less) effort than me and still manages to lose the same (or more) than me and at a faster rate. For that reason, I find it a catch-22 to have a workout buddy...it is always difficult to remain excited and motivating and genuinely happy for the other person, and NOT compare myself to them and become discouraged.
