Water drinking subject

Hi all!
I seem to have a problem with water drinking. I know i should drink a lot of water, but i usually get up to max 10 cups per day and just can't drink anymore. I force myself, but it's still not working.
I was wondering, does someone else have the same problem, and how do you do it? How do you make yourself drink more water?

10 cups is more than the recommended amount. I'd say you're doing just fine.0

I WISH i could get to 10cups! I have a problem just drinking 3!0

Last year when I joined the gym, the fitness instructor asked me how much water I was drinking, I said 1 litre, she said that was perfectly fine. It is recommended that you drink around 8 cups a day, so you're doing great with 10 cups! I drink 2 litres a day (8 and a half cups).0

I agree, 2 litres/8 cups is fine. If you're exercising and need more, you'll want more.0

The doctors recommend around 8 glasses of water per day and that includes water that you get from food, so there is no need for you to worry about not having enough water! I wish I could drink that much!0

All the above.
I struggle but find a wedge of lemon does the trick.0 -
I used to think that I'd never be able to tackle drinking enough water. What has worked for me is having one of those workout bottles on my desk at work. And this is where it lives otherwise I'd never remember to bring it. With this system I seem to be subconsciously sipping and can easily smash 3 of them throughout my work day. I also have another one on my bedside table at home.0

Until a few months ago I would only drink 1-2 cups per day. Since I started a diet with my nutricionist he started pushing me to drink more and more. At the beginning it was difficult to even reach 6 cups per day, but I didn't give up.
Right now I drink approximately 10 cups only at the office (a period of 9 hrs) and 5-6 more when I get home. I guess it just became a habbit. One thing that helped me was this: when I was at work I placed a big bottle of water on my office desk first thing in the morning. This way it would be next to me all the time and I could not make excuses for not drinking it. First goal was to drink the whole bottle during working time. After doing this for 1 month I started putting 2 bottles. It worked like a charm and I also adapted the same habbit when I am at home using my computer or watching TV: I always have water next to me!0 -

I don't, and never have, drunk pure water. There is simply no need to. If you like pure water, then great, go nuts. But don't just drink it because you think it's something you "should" be doing. You need the equivalent of 8 cups of water a day on average, from any source. These sources can be pure water/tea/coffee/juice/soda/milk/fruit/veg etc. It does NOT have to be pure neat water!

As for coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.
di·u·ret·ic (d-rtk)
adj.
Tending to increase the discharge of urine.
n.
A substance or drug that tends to increase the discharge of urine.
Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

Exactly how much are you wanting to drink??0
-
10 cups per day is still REALLY good! But if you do want more, I'd say go for a low cal to no cal addative (sp?), you know to make it taste like peach tea or somethin'. Also, like someone said previously, have a full water body constantly at your finger tip is a big help too, because you'll get going back to it. Consciously or not. hope this helps =D0

I drink between 12 and 14 cups a day. I think about the fat deposits I am clearing out of me.0
-
Why drink if you aren't thirsty? Most of the food you eat is full of water, too.0
-
Well, that's exactly what i was thinking, why drink if you aren't thirsty??? But then i saw advice from poeple here who have lost a huge amount of weight, and every single one of them said to drink a lot of water.
There's not a special amount of water i would like to drink, i was just thinking that 10 cups are not enough, but now i don't worry anymore.
Thanks guys!!!
P. S. Feel free to add me as a friend!0 -
Assuming you have other drinks, and eat fruit and veg, 10 cups is actually more than you need on days when you don't exercise. It wont harm you having 10, but it really isnt necessary.0
