Painful hip joints after running - how to ease the pain?

I learned a rather important lesson last night - do NOT try to run when your pants and undies are too large.
Why?
Because you end up having to run while holding your pants and undies up, which results in an awkward gait while running, which results in painful hip joints.
So now my hips are killing me and I am wondering if there are any exercises/stretches to help ease that pain...
Any advice?

I use an app called Dood Stretch. There's a section for hips.0

I don't run, but I have had painful hip joints after a long go on the elliptical. I just make sure that I stretch really well right after my workout, and the most important thing I've found is to make sure you don't skip your workout the next day. You might have to tone it down a bit (walk instead of run) but make sure you're using those joints and getting them moving. If you have access to a gym you might want to consider using the sauna, hot tub or steam room, as those both tend to relax me and make my joints less achy. Hope this helps!0

Try the runner's stretch where you lay with one leg tucked underneath you - like this

If the pain is in the joint (bone pain) usually felt as grinding with a persistent ache or in the tendons usually felt as a popping sensation followed by a deep throb which runs across the lower back to the hip use an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve. If the pain feels more muscle stetching will help as well as heat applications.0

Sounds like your hip flexor. Type "hip flexor stretches" in Google and there will be a million results. I used to get flexor pain if I didn't stretch well before cardio, however ever since I started doing pilates I have had no trouble...probably because I get a good stretch in their multiple times a week now.0 -
If that doesn't work, you should try taking a Calcium/D-3 Supplement and Tri-flex ON TOP of your daily multivitamin. I have not had any joint problems since I started taking those.0

Also, consider icing the area well. Yes, Ice. For 24 hours after a hard workout, ice will give you more relief and faster healing than heat. I've been pimping the following book around a lot lately, because I think it's full of great advice for runners. Check your local library.
