I am going to try to convince my mom to let me make some healthy meals this year. Not only are we having REALLY fattening food but that Saturday after I bought her Texas Renaissance Festival King's Feast tickets as a Christmas gift. The feast involves a show and a LOT of food.

Holidays can be hard. Anyone else struggle? Have any tips for survival?

There's a "Healthy for the Holidays" group that could help you, just do a group search, there's a Topic of the same name too.

My plan this year to survive Christmas day: I've convinced dad to flood the lake behind our house and we're going to have a skating party to burn some of those extra calories!

Honestly, I will see these upcoming holidays in regards to eating at any other day where I can cheat. So, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, all those three holidays will be my cheat day. I won't over eat and I'm not planning to eat leftovers either. I can not afford to destroy what I have accomplished so far.

We are starting a new tradition for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year: a walk outside to look at the Christmas lights instead of just driving around the neighborhood! It will help burn off the calories. Plus, we are already planning our meals for the days so that we can make sure we stay within our goals. This will help keep the stress off and make the days much more enjoyable!
  • going on a diet doesnt allow you to eat anything that you have said...but a lifestyle change lets you eat what you want, just not too much...

so change your life...this is a long term plan...not a "oh, i cant eat the turkey or the potato salad cause im on a diet"...

that is my only suggestion to you...

i am a foodie...i love food! and i still eat lots of what i love...chicken wings, meat pies, chinese food...just not often and not too much when i do...
  • I didn't know there were groups! lol

Yes I am a foodie too :) I eat what I want I just tend to overeat at Thanksgiving.
