Pretty ironic that a country that once was the most racist in the world is willing to elect a Vietnamese orphan born in Vietnam to such a high office... I doubt America will reach this level of tolerance anytime soon!

To put it in perspective, this is the second most powerful position in Germany, equivalent to our vice-president. Hitler occupied this same post before he became Chancellor and declared himself Der Fuhrer.

Don't want to get into politics but we have elected an illegitimate black man as president. I think America has come a long way (regardless of his performance) lol.

Yeah, it's not like we would ever elect an African-American to the most powerful position in the nation! Pfft...

Honestly, is Obama really that black? I've always viewed him as being white (he's half-white, so he's not black to me in that regards) and a lot of black people consider him to be white also - his background isn't typical of like 99% of black people in this country haha,

The thing is, African-Americans (I'm not saying Obama is one either) have ALWAYS been a major part of U.S. history. This guy is a minority of a minority in a nation that once committed MASS MURDER of people based on race...

I didn't realize you had to have a "typical" black background to be black. What does that mean exactly?

99% of black people? So 1% is college educated and well spoken?

Yes Generalizing a half-white, upper-class man as being an African-American is really fun.

I suspect that in times past, he would have been "black enough" to not have been able to sit at the front of the bus.

America will never elect a real black person who has suffered for being black. They'll only elect white-collar, privileged, white-washed black men who will toe the status quo.

Funny you said that, when I was on vacation in China, my tour guide asked me if there were a lot of "bananas" in America. I just stared back at her with a blank face because I had no clue what she was asking until she explained it to me. :indifferent:
