I've decided today I'm going to start taking more care with my diet and do my best to excercise daily. After giving birth to my daughter 6 weeks ago I think I am ready to move forward with that goal. When I got pregnant in May 2008, I weighed 345 lbs. Throughout my pregnancy to my amazement I lost 45 lbs. After the birth, I lost another 15 lbs. In total I have already lost 60 lbs and look foward to loosing at least another 85 lbs if not more. I'm going to dust off the treadmill to see if it can support my new wieght. I had to stop using it because my weight was too much for it. I didn't want to break it. I want to be healthier and more fit for my children so that I can be there to watch them grow.

I do have a question, I'm breastfeeding and that burns calories everyday, how or where would I add this to my progress?

Good for you. Every mom deserves time for herself and I am glad you realized that. I weighed over 200 pounds with my second child and it was hard but I felt like a new person and never went back. You will be a better mom, wife and role model to your children, they will see how much you care for them and yourself. With Breastfeeding I remember my doctor saying all that is needed is 300 more calories a day when breastfeeding so just add 300 more to what they say you cals should be on MFP. Any questions I am here I am an aerobics instructor and figure skating coach I also help train people for marathons so I have helped many people lose weight not just myself. Start by eating fruits and veggies and getting rid of all processed foods. Congrats on the weight lost already:)

I am not sure that breast feeding is on the list. Just a bit of advice, it is best to feed baby first ,then workout. Something about exercise that makes the milk less sweet. So once baby has eaten and is down for a little sleep time that would be a great time to exercise. Also check with a doctor to make sure you are having enough calories to sustain your milk. There is a healthy way to continue breast feeding and still lose weight. great job on the weight already lost. Right now your body is in weight loss mode and you are making the right choice. Congratualtions on the precious new baby:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Hi! Congratulations and Good For You!! :flowerforyou: About the breastfeeding, while you are nursing a newborn, you can burn up to 500 calories in a day. The most important thing is to lose weight slowly. No more than a pound a week so that you don't compromise your milk supply. And drink LOTS of water. Good luck and feel free to add me as a friend. I've breast fed both of my babies. My youngest is now ten months so I would love to answer any questions about anything.
  • Thanks everyone! I lost so much weight while pregnant because I was put on a diet for diabetics. At 8 weeks I tested positive for diabetes. So far it seems to have gone away after the baby came. Hopefully loosing more weight will help with keeping the diabetes away.

Thanks again and I look forward to using this site.
