I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally did it, I managed to do the impossible. Today I am 28 days of NO SMOKING. 28 days ago I decided that's it I can't take it anymore. I'm tired of complaining that I have no money and cigs were the biggest drain for my bank account. So I quit cold turkey. Let me tell you it has been absolute HELL for the past month but I feel better finally. The withdrawal was tough but I'm finally over it. I still get cravings every now and then (mostly when the BF smokes in the house even though I forbid him that since I quit), but for the most part I think I'm close to home free of never smoking ever again. On that note, the BF tried to quit same time I did (but he used the patch) and he only lasted three days. Women are Stronger!!!!!!!!!!
As hard as I tried not to I gained weight, but with the my newly healing lungs I've also managed to pick up some jogging here and there. The dog loves it and today I managed to jog a little further than I've ever had before. Which isn't very far but this is a first time jogger here.
Now I need to work on cutting out the bad foods. My emotions have gone haywire since quitting and I think I'm finally starting to get over the cranky stage. I need to learn to not sooth my craziness with ice cream but one problem at a time has always been a motto of my mine.
For right now I'm still basking in the glory ( or so I keep telling myself) of being a Non - Smoker.

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am on the same boat, I am almost 32 days without a smoke, but I got hypnotized, the withdrawels were nothin'. My fiance' quit 1 week later he is now 25 days smoke free and we have save $300 + bucks!
Good for you, and really GREAT for you considering that you had to quit cold turkey with a smoker in the house. And now 28 days in and you will NEVER touch a cancer stick again to your lips!
GREAT JOB!0 -
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!. That is a great milestone. I have been smoke free for 5 months and have never felt better. I can't believe how much easier exercise is without smoke filled lungs. I am almost back to my smoking days weight and the little bit of weight that was gained has been well worth it. Keep up the hard work0

GREAT JOB!
Quitting smoking is tough, I know from experience. Its been about 4 years since I was a "smoker" but I have bummed a few smokes here and there at moments of weakness. I've noticed certain triggers that still get me after all this time: stress/anger/etc. so be on the lookout for them!
Keep it up girl!0 -
One hurdle at a time right??? It sounds like you have a lot to be happy about. First and MOST important is quitting smoking! That is SO wonderful and a huge accomplishment! Second is on running. That is great that you are pushing your limits a little bit. Great JOB!!!0

Hey girl friend I did it cold turkey too!!! I just up and quit one day. I didn't tell anyone not my daughter not my better half not even my best friend. Three days into it I finally told my boyfreind. He said he thought something was up since I smoked outside and he dosen't smoke. :smokin: Any way it has been almost three months and no regrets:noway: and I didn't even start with MFP until a week later. :noway: And I have done nothing more than enjoyed working off the fat and breathing better. So keep on trucking toward your goals. Cuz if I can do it anyone can.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Need support feel free to look me up. As I am hear for you and any one else that need some positive out look.

I am 4 months quit now, and very happy. I miss it , but never want togo back to that chain that held me down. I also have started running so i know how great your feeling of accomplishment is, and it is GREAT!!! I also gained 10 lbs. when I quit and I just got them off. I now have the last 10 baby-pounds to go, then I'll readjust and try for the 10 lbs that I gained in my mid 30's when I met and married the love of my life. hahah it seems that all good things come with a 10 lb. weight gain, but they were all worth it. and now It's time to work hard and get back to the weight we love.
Congrats on all your accomplishments, You've done yourself proud. :flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks everyone for the congrats and encouragements :flowerforyou:0

I have been quit from smoking for about 8 years now, I also quit cold turkey. it was hard, I would quit and throw my cigs in the trash and then I would go and buy me another pack a few hours later, finally one day I just had enough and threw then away for good and I have never brought another cig to my lips since.0
