Optifast shakes?

So I have these optifast shakes sitting in my pantry. They have been there for a while now.

I've been wondering to myself.... Should I begin having one as my lunch?

Does anyone know if these are any good? Do they satisfy? I've noticed they have a lot of carbs. Most importantly... will it be okay if I only have it as lunch? Or do I need to have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner for it to assist weight loss?

example - oats for breakfast, shake for lunch and normal dinner? (usually involving fish/chicken with roast veggies/salad)

Sorry I don't know much about these shakes! Thanks.

  • I had the dutch chocolate ones. They taste ok. I mixed them more as a pudding. Mine were only 110 calories so they weren't the most filling, try them and see how much they fill you up. You may want to just have them as a snack instead of a meal replacement.

Treat it like any other food. Check out the nutritional info on the label and see how it fits into your daily goals.
  • I mix a serving of slim fast (I am assuming it is similar) with a serving of plain, fat free greek yogurt. Makes a high protein, nutritious pudding that is really satisfying.

The beginning of my weight loss was done on a modified fast using optifast shakes. I lost a total of 125 lbs doing that part in 5 months. I use to mix the vanilla with diet orange soda really good. It was also good mixed with diet rootbeer soda. The chocolate I use to mix with water and instant coffee as well as chocolate soda (yes they make it) and added in a little bit of coconut extract and almond extract. Tasted like an almond joy. I would mix one package of shake mix with 12 oz of liquid. When using instant coffee, it takes one scoop. I enjoyed them.

I wouldn't mix the chocolate soda with the coffee and water. I was just giving you two different drinks. Also the strawberry shake mix was good with diet vanilla cream soda. The diet sodas we used were a brand called waist watchers which I believe had no sodium and no caffeine.

They are very satisfying, I could go for 4 hours before being hungry again.

This is what I do with meal replacements/protein shakes as then I eat it with a spoon and it actually feels like I'm eating rather than just drinking a shake - you can also add fruit like banana or strawberry (depending on shake flavour) or nuts/seeds.

When I used Optifast Shakes a few years ago I would have 1 for breakfast then half for morning tea and half for afternoon tea - just had a quick look at your diary and thought that might be a good option for you, keep the whole foods/vegies in your lunch wrap and try to reduce the processed bars (although the shake's processed anyway) and energy drinks.
