Impending illness - soldier on or rest up?

All the signs point to me imminently coming down with a cold - achy body, headache, heavy pre-cough feeling in my lungs etc. If it's inevitable anyhow, should I soldier on and squeeze out one more exercise session tonight before I feel too bad (and you never know, it may never develop!) or rest up and hope to recuperate sooner?

Well I'm just coming out on the other side of the crud myself & I didn't pressure myself to stick to my schedule. Staying out of the gym is a given so the strength training has been on hold, but I did feel well enough to get out for a short run the other night. It was very slow & I didn't push myself to meet any particular speed or distance, I just decided I'd do 30 min so I took off, then at 15 min turned around & came back.
It might be better to take a complete break from exercise if you can, but I was getting antsy so I had to get out & do SOMETHING. If you do, just take it easy & keep the intensity low. To me a "crappy" workout is better than none at all & it was enough to keep me from feeling like I wasn't doing everything I should.0 -

Definitely rest up!!
I continued to workout and still battle my cough, cold and achiness and it only made it worse. I ended up on an inhaler, a z-pack and 2 other prescription meds.
Get better then start back up again!! Take care of yourself!!0 -
I had the same thing happen this summer and already had a run planned. I did the run anyway because while I was feeling the sore throat and aches coming on, I knew that in a day or so I wouldn't be able to breathe well so running would be even more out of the question. My vote is to exercise tonight and play the next few days by ear. I don't like to work out hard when I have respiratory congestion and coughing but you may find it doesn't bother you so much.0

Thank you for all your opinions, I think a rest would do me good.
And your stories reminded me of my only marathon to date, which I didn't think about until now. I couldn't back out as I had a commitment to a charity. I was coughing up blood (from raw sinuses, nothing scary!) and only took my arm out of a sling long enough for the race (I'd torn the tendons in a nasty fall while training) I battled on to finish slower than I could normally have walked it!
The moral of this story - I have been reminded that sometimes a rest does far more good than soldiering on through training!0 -
I am no exercise fiend, but it sounds like I feel the same as you. I am going home, getting a glass of wine, eating whatever I actually feel like eating and watching the Children In Need concert with my feet up.
If we feel better tomorrow I promise I'll run a few paces for you when I'm out with the dogs0 -
