Dirty vodka martini filled to the rim?

Bartender friend of mine made me a dirty martini - only it was filled to the rim of the glass as opposed to a standard size serving. I'm having trouble with the calorie counts MFP has - 240 for 3 oz under one, and 160 for 6 oz under another, and the latter was confirmed by more people? That doesn't make any sense to me. What would you guys quick calorie count this as?

It's pretty delicious! But now that I'm starting to allow myself a few drinks now and then again, I want to be sure I'm accurate with the counts!! I went a month without drinking, but it's unrealistic as I like the occasional glass of wine or martini now and then.
  • I usually turn to livestrong when I can't decide which entry to use...

^ That says about 215 cals for 3oz of vodka and 1 1/2 oz of the other goods. I would just guesstimate a little over that... or just go with the 240 cal drink. Hope this helped a bit! :)

Ask the bartender how many ounces were poured. Martinis are just straight alcohol, right? With a splash of olive juice.

Then go to the (vodka's) website and get the calories for one ounce of that vodka.

A normal sized martini glass holds about 3.5-4oz and the newer larger ones hold 7.5-8 oz. If you watched him make the drink, you can add up the components. 1 jigger is 1.5 oz of vodka, there shouldn't be much vermouth, and then add your olives. Hope that helps!

Depends on the glass. Mine at home can hold two of my martinis, so that would be 340 cals.

Does it seem like there were two full drinks in that one glass?

I understand sorry wish I could help
  • 1 oz of vodka is about 64 cals. So you need to figure out how many ounces your martini glass holds. Was it a traditional martini glass ? So maybe 4.5 oz vodka and 1.5 oz olives and olive juice ?

I love a dirty martini mmmmmmmmmmm

It's about the same size as the one I use at my bar - a standard 6oz glass is my guess. I'm realizing now this is kind of a silly question without my knowing what pour count she used!! (I blame the tipsiness - clearly it was a decent amount of alcohol). Thanks for trying to help, guys! I'm going to estimate at 300 calories just to be safe.

Me, too! I'm a sucker for anything salty, ESPECIALLY in the colder months. Pho + a bloody mary is my downfall. And also means I have to seriously watch my sodium for the next week.

I bartend as well, so I'm very aware of the protocol. She was QUITE thanked with the 50% tip I left ;)

I had a Dirty Martini shot last night. Think of it like a mini-tini with an olive chaser. Very satisfying!
