I've been having a nosey at some peoples diaries to get ideas for food but a few seem to be having a lot less calorie intake that they are meant to.
Is this ok?

What is good for one person may not be good for another. What works for one person may not work for another. I find it's best to do what works for me and let others worry about what works for them. Good luck in your journey0

depends on what you are calling "that they are meant to."0 -

click on their name and it will open their profile page. if they have made their journal public, you'll see a "view diary" tab.0 -
look over a long time span...I know today (for example) has been a rough day for me.
Also, when someone changes their goals, it changes it across their whole food log. *I* just went onto maintenance last week, so it shows me being WAYYYYYY under calories before last week...0 -
People don't always log all their food. Some days my diary will say 200 calories, when I really had 1800.
I figure it's not my job to decide what they do in their food diary. I just worry about my stuff.0 -
Feel free to take a look at mine, I have low and high......... need to balance things out for me.
Feel free to add me as well if you wish.0 -
What she is saying is are you supposed to stick to the calories MFP sets forth depending on your diet/fitness needs or not?
I dont have an answer for you though. I am somewhat new as well. What I have been told is that you should try to stick close to the calories for the day because as you lose, the calories start to go down.0 -
I've had days when I am under and over and all in all it has not affected anything.. I try to stay within 100-200 of the daily goal.0

I would just stick to this part, as this is borderlining being judgmental.0 -

Apologies wasn't meant to be judgemental was just asking for myself
Basically I was meaning MFP set me a certain amount of calories and I struggle to eat them all so had a look at other peoples diaries for ideas of different foods to eat and noticed some people are under their intake(recommended by MFP) and wondered if it was healthy to be under regularly.0 -
and thanks for your reposnese0

I understood your post clearly. I didn't see it as judgemental either. I don't have the answers you are looking for though. I would say if you are set on using all your calories, then perhaps add something higher in calorie to your meals, For me, if I am not hungry I will not eat. Just monitor and see how it works for you and then you can see where you may need to modify things. Good luck to you.0 -

I don't think hadlam was being judgementtal, I understood that she was asking as she wanted to know whether she was doing things correctly by not always being under, or in any event just wanted to find out other people's way of doing things. I don't think such a hostile reply is really appropriate.
For me, I try to be under as much as i can during the week so that I can go out at weekends (relatively) guilt free. Although I am not sure whether this would be considered the healthiest approach!
From the posts I have read on here, it seems most people agree that eating all your calories, including your exercise calories is the way forward, although everyone is different and the best thing you can do really is learn to listen to your body!
Hope that helps!0 -
Thank you I really appreciate your response.
