hi,
anyone on that? how is it? how does it work? any success? please dish!
a "fast" usually involves an absence of food. how would you fast on fruits and vegetables? theres no protein or fats to speak of and no reason to "detox" using foods.
just eat a balanced, calorie-deficient diet and lose weight.

A fast is an absence of whatever you'd like to be absent in your life/diet/etc. When people give up chocolate for Lent, they are "fasting" from chocolate. If somebody gives up meats/processed foods from her diet, she is "fasting" from those foods. Many people go on a "Daniel Fast" as it is sometimes called (reference to the Old Testament character Daniel who chose to abstain from eating meat that was offered to idols and consumed only fruits and vegetables...yes, a totally random thing I remember from a religion class in college, lol!).
A short term diet that includes only fruits and vegetables serves to clean out the GI track (all that fiber pushes waste through). Many people believe the "Daniel Fast" will detox the body as well. Think of all the amazing fruits/vegetables/grains out there...rice/quinoa/potatoes for starches, avocado and coconut for fats, and all of the great produce in between. This type of fasting from meat/processed foods can be done well. Here's an example...for lunch, take 3 whole romaine leaves. Stuff them with avocado, black beans, tomato, corn, salsa, rice, etc. Veggie tacos. All from God's green earth, and packed full of all of the fat/protein/carbs that you need!
Whatever the case, I do not believe the original poster is trying to go on a crash diet of sorts. It sounds as if she's interested in a short term cleans/detox. This is a healthy choice, will do no harm, and is a quick way to hit the diet reset button! Good luck girl, and enjoy.0 -
And Rita, your question is perfectly normal. Makes sense to me honey! :-)0
