I am over my body media fit. It's not bad..I just want something where I don't have to pay a subscription. What do you have or recommend?

Hahaha that's supposed to say *dreaded heart monitor question. Oh well.

I have a Polar FT7 and love it. I have never owned any others so I can't say how it compares, sorry.

I have had both Polar and Garmin and they are both reliable and pretty easy to program. The Garmin does more, but I don't make use of most of those extras.

I've been told the FITBIT is really good. It's only available in America/Canada so I don't have any personal experience but people I watch on YouTube who never recommend anything are raving about it.
  • I know everyone will recommend Polars, but I got a Sportsline Duo. It was $117, included the wristwatch and chest strap, and came with a 2 year warrenty that if anything goes wrong, ship it out free and they'll send you a new one. I haven't had any problems with mine at all, and have found it really easy to use. Also, the wristwatch looks like a regular watch, which I liked since some of the Polars are a bit larger. I got mine at D-I-C-K's Sporting Goods. Hope you find one you like :flowerforyou:

I have a Polar FT7 too and I also love it. Also, reasonable ($78 USD or so) on Amazon.

Polar ft4 - only about $75 and has the basic features that you USE without a lot of extra stuff for extra cost.

I had a Polar but once it "dies" there is no way to replace the batteries. Had to buy a new one. Now I have a Sportline (Dual Coded) which is nice if you attend classes at a gym. You can switch channels so other people wearing a monitor doesn't interfere with yours.

I have a Polar FT7 also... got it on ebay for around $60 (new in package). I had a cheaper one from Target (timex maybe?) and it always seemed to lose connection a lot and would never register correctly. I have never had that problem with the Polar.

Thanks everyone. I will look into the Polar! I have heard lots of good things about it and that was the one I was thinking of I just couldn't remember the name.

does this perhaps depend on the model - as both mine and my hubbies polars have replaceable batteries (both for watch and strap) also the straps on the polars we have are coded so the interference has not been the problem that they apparently had before...

Yes it does.... this was one of my research points before I bought the FT7. The batteries in that model are fully replaceable... I think the FT4 also, but I don't remember?

Do all of the Polar models come with a chest strap????? I have been looking into getting one as well but hear that that is an important feature for accuracy...

yes they all do. and for anyone reading this and you are concerned it won't fit b/c you maybe too big, I got mine over a year ago and I was pretty big then. 6'3 460 lbs. large frame and the strap fit fine. it's soft, stretchy and comfortable.
