5 pounds had a big effect!

I didn't tell anyone I was trying to lose weight, except my husband and one co-worker. My co-worker said the other day that she though I looked skinny, and today I was standing talking to her and she said "You definitely look skinny!" Now I'm not actually skinny - I've got about 13 pounds to go - but it was a great compliment!

I've only lost 5 pounds so far, and I'm surprised at how big a difference it's made. I tried on two of my T-shirts this morning, that used to be loose but still looked good, and they are too baggy to wear to work; they just look sloppy now.

You may have lost some inches too, and that makes a BIG difference!

Great Job. When you think typically 10 pounds is a dress size, YES 5 pounds can make a huge difference.
    Keep it up!!!

the less you have to lose..the more noticable it is..the more you have to lose..you have to be in the 20-30 pound range before people notice..

Congrats...only a few more to go..you can do it!

I know I've lost some inches off my waist but I didn't really take measurements other than my waist and hips. Kind of wish I had, but I can just go by how my clothes fit. :)

I agree, I've lost 23 now and no one has said anything about me looking smaller. I see it in my face and clothes are fitting better....but that's it! Still have a little ways to go, about 30 lbs...

    Great job though!!!

I think this depends on how you carry the weight as well. I had about 20 to lose, have lost 14 and people barely notice! I carried most of it my belly, so now I don't look pregnant at least! My legs have tightened up and I do have more collar bone showing but my face hasn't dropped much. I've dropped a whole size in the pants and are pinning a lot of them to get longer wear!

And yes, even 5lbs can make such a difference! I found it motivated me so much more just seeing some results.

5 lbs, if mostly fat can be an inch or so.
Congrats and I hope you reach your goals successfully, it certainly sounds like you are on your way.

    Is that true?

It depends on your height. I'm relatively tall and weight has further to distribute itself around. 31lbs = about 1.5 dress sizes on me.
