I walked in this morning to the smell of fresh baked cookies. Walked right up on auto pilot and took one. :ohwell: No big deal except now I want more. I have been avoiding baked goods as they are my weakness, now I just want to pig out on some cookies, before MFP it was nothing for me to sit down and eat 2 dozen with 2 glasses of milk if I was using self control I would only have a dozen....:blushing:

Quick - go do a workout out and erase all evidence!!!

Sounds like you've grown and I don't mean your waist line!!! High five!

I am the same way, with brownies... I would eat a whole pan if left in the room with them. Now, I make them... have a few, and then bring them to work and give them away! I still get my treat, and also suck up to the people in my office!
  • Ditto on the cookie monster thing. I can not have baked goods as I have NO will power right now. Damn...now I want a cookie!

LOL - the dreaded cookie ambush! You came out with only minor damage - not the actual cookie (I think we need to make room in our diet for the occasional treat) but the lingering craving for more.

That word - "ONE" is key. You only took ONE. You're my hero of the day! Good job!

And congrats on 60 pounds down. Awesome!

You've lost 17.5% of your body weight and are fast approaching the halfway mark to your goal, so enjoy a little blip! Losing weight isn't meant to feel like a prison sentence

Wow - I can relate to the "autopilot" thing -
  • I love to bake and anything that smells as good as fresh baked cookies usually spells disaster for me! They best way I've come up with to deal with it is immediately wrapping whatever is tempting me into batches (for example by 100 or 200 cals, or just with what's acceptable as one portion). I do this with most things now including multi-bags of sweets and biscuits.

It really helps you become more aware of what you're eating and I find it's sooo much harder to binge when I have to fight though the layers of sellotape I apply to sabotage myself :D

So enjoy them, but this might help with that pesky word 'moderation'! Good luck :)
  • I have the same problem here at the office - damn near everyone has a candy dish on their desk and I have to force myself not to go into auto pilot to pick up a piece. If I start with one, I know it won't stop there ... it's just easier if I resist all together.

Like someone just said, "It's not a prison sentence."

Dude, take a break and pig out for a day. For me it's just second nature now because I've been doing it for 7+ years. One day every single week, I eat well over 5,000 calories and doing that allowed me to lose 100lbs in 11 months. Even better, I continually get in better and better shape over the years instead of just gaining the weight back.

If you deprive yourself too much you will go crazy, I went crazy doing just that.
also if your on a plan that you enjoy, it's easier to say no when you need to because you will have a day to say yes!

It's hard I know. I still have dreams about eating Gluten and wake up totally freaked out. I actually thought I had bought the wrong cookies a few months back and threw the bag away after I'd eaten some. I actually contemplated making myself throw them up I was so freaked I'd eaten gluten. Turns out they were the GF ones just a different color bag!

Pat yourself on the back that you only ate 1 cookie, workout hard to make up for it and go forth like you've been doing!

I am currently setting 2 feet from a jar of homemade chocolate chip cookies. My wife collects cookie jars and feels it's necessary to have them around at all times. I have been looking at them for 3 days and..........AHHHHHHH. Okay, I'm better of to work now:sad:
