Stomach = full, mouth = hungry

I have a little problem.
Late at night when I'm trying to sleep, I get a little bit "hungry".
I'm almost always just under or on my calories yet it doesn't stop be getting hungry at night...... but I'm sure that it's just my MOUTH that is hungry because when I press down on my stomach I can feel it's full and it's not rumbling.
I've tried eating as a solution to my problem and have no trouble sleeping afterwards but if I do this my stomach feels sick in the morning and I can't eat breakfast or else my full stomach causes me to sleep in and miss a class......
Does this happen to anyone?? Helpppp

This used to happen to me...only i'd wake up like an hour or two after falling asleep, feeling like I needed to eat. What I started doing when this happened was I would go drink a big glass of water, then go brush my teeth again. The water plus having a new taste in your mouth makes you feel like you ate something...or at least it did in my case. Hope it helps!0

hmmmmm... I would recommend that you try a little tiny snack of like a half yogurt or something that has enzymes in it like a raw apple or carrot. Hopefully the enzymes will address the digestion issue.0

try some water. maybe you are just thirsty. sometimes our brain thirst signals arent working correctly.if your brain is on overload, it may think it "needs" to eat to settle down. go through what happened during the day and what needs to happen the following day. usually if i think i am hungry but i know i really am not it is boredom or anxiety or something that is emotional need instead of physical.0

ease up on the weed it'll be gone instantly!
I keep diet jello and iced flavored water on hand for just that reason.0 -
I think it became a habit for me. When I was pregnant and then nursing I would get so hungry that I truly needed to eat in the midd'le of the night. Once that time past, I would still wake up feeling 'hungry'. I had to retrain myself to go through the night without needed a snack. I had a few days to a week where I would wake up feeling this way and just had to tell myself 'no'. My body/brain finally readjusted and I don't feel like I need to eat in the middle of the night anymore.
As long as you know that you've had enough to eat, I would suggest you just hold out until your body/brain readjust.0 -
This happens to me. I eat dinner before work (3:30) then get home around 8:30. I always *think* I'm hungry when I get home. It's also the time my kids get dessert so it makes it very hard to not eat anything. To make it easier, instead of me having nothing and just watching them eat, I have a cup of hot tea or hot lemon water. And it never fails that when I wake up the next day, I'm very proud of myself that I was able to say no.0

Thanks so much guys....... I'm gonna give all of your suggestions a go... I was having more of a think about it and I dont think it helps that I stay up late (because of work= hospitality), wake up at midday and then have breakfast.0

i chew a fruity piece of gum and if that doesn't help i reach for yogurt or pretzels (I pick the the salt off of them first, usually gets exhausting and i give up and go to sleep)0

Sounds like you need a metabolic. I am trying to build muscle and I have trainers and do a lot of reading on the subject. I am also severely hypolycemic. My doctor said I needed protein before I go to bed so my blood sugar doesn't drop too low. He suggested yogurt (no fruit...blech). Then one of my trainers suggested I eat protein before bed. My nutritionist suggested....a protein snack before bed. I did not listen to any of these people.
Then I read an article about muscle growth that basically said you need to eat protein right before you go to bed because a few hours after you go to sleep your body cannibalizes its own protein source (muscle) when the protein you have consumed runs out. In order to stop this you need to consume (you guessed it) PROTEIN before bed!!! Now, every night I drink protein powder (consulted with specialist at the health food store, Bio Chem protein powder). I use 1 scoop of powder, 1 tbsp peanut butter (no sugar...to slow down the absorption of the protein because it is made to be absorbed fast by athletes...so unless you ran a marathon before bed you want to slow it down), 1 tbsp Hershey's chocolate powder & 2-3 truvia packets (depending on how sweet you want it) and if I want I throw in some ice cubes on top of the water (to make it more shake like). Very low in calories, gives you healthy fat, chocolate (which is so good for you) and no sugar. It keeps me going all night long. Plus during THAT time of the month it gives me a chocolate fix. You might want to try it. The hunger you feel might be your body craving protein.0 -
a spoonful of peanut butter before bed.0
