Anyone using mangesium suppliments to help with sleep issues? Does it work and what would the dosage be. I was told to try this but am a little leery.

I have no idea - I take unisom every night and it helps me fall asleep fast. If I dont take it I cant get my mind to shut off and I toss and turn all night.

I used Melatonin and Dyphenhydromine. Works pretty good, but I have found that the last week or so that I have been having some pretty heavy workouts that I fall to sleep practically as soon as I lay down.

I don't know about the Magnesium either. I don't have difficulty falling asleep but occasionally I wake up and that's it for the night. I sometime take advil pm, only 1/2 tablet let's me go back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night.

My internist is having me take melatonin and magnesium to help with getting to sleep (along with no TV, computers or gadgets with back lighting within an hour of going to bed). I am to try this for at least six weeks before we evaluate how it is working. I don't know if the dosage is specific to me so I'm not jotting that down, but I do know she wanted to start with low doses.

So far I am falling asleep better, but I am waking up more in the middle of the night. Not a good trade. Also I don't know which of the changes in behavior or all have helped with the falling asleep. She did warn me that the magnesium might cause loose stools at first.

I am happy to have the extra magnesium because it helps with bone density as well. It'd be great if it works. If the topic is still active and I think of it in a month, I'll let you know if I am sleeping better overall.

Thanks everyone. I just started with a personal trainer and he suggested it. Tried it two night now and don't see a difference yet but I'll give it awhile longer.

You might want to stay with it until you complete the bottle.

Yep. I swear by ZMA (zinc, magnesium, vitamin B6). There is plenty of articles on it all throughout the web. I find that I fall into a deeper sleep and wake up more refreshed in a shorter amount of time.
