So my day had rounded out to about where I wanted it to be (though a few things I wasn't sure on the counts) But come night, I binged on a few handfuls of Oyster crackers, about 5 tablespoons of PB, and an end piece of bread.
I feel ruined. I was a bit over yesterday too. What do I do? I'm at maintainence and don't want to gain it back.

One night of binging isn't going to ruin everything. Remember, a lapse isn't a relapse! You have the power and control. Tomorrow is a new day; get back on track. Think about why you felt the need to binge and try to fix it. It is a hard habit to break, trust me, I know. However, you CAN do it! Next time you feel the need to binge, post here. Everyone is so supportive. That way, you will be able to talk through the urge and beat it. Try distracting yourself next time; clean the house, brush your teeth or take a walk. You can beat this- I fully believe in you!0

One night isn't going to do any damage dear....we all have those nights!
Just hang in there, have a good night's rest, and wake up new tommorrow. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you're awesome.....because you are! *hugs*0 -
Forget it, you're fine ... tomorrow's a new day, get back on the MFP focus and go forward. That's all we can do, I've recently done similar and am attempting to refocus... it happens.0

There is nothing you can do about today. That doesn't sound like a hideous binge, but I know what it's like to have a great day planned then go over thanks to a "few little extras".
Now is the time to plan for tomorrow and think about how you will handle NOT eating extra stuff at the end of the day.
Someone on these forums recommended a book a while back - Eating Less by Gillian Riley. It's not about dieting, but about taking control of eating and it has been really helpful for me to help change my attitude to overeating/binging. Check it out, you might find it helpful too.0 -
Maybe it would be helpful to you to have some low cal alternatives readily available. I put that stuff in the cupboard in front of the tempting stuff (i can't get rid of the temping stuff, i am the only person here out of 5 that needs to diet.) If i have to move the good snack out of the way to get to the other stuff, I am more likely to stop and think about it.
I found too, if I plan my meals and snacks for the whole day, i tend to stick to it better.
I was always a late night snacker, so i slowly moved supper time to a little later, and bed time a little earlier. and a warm beverage between supper and bed time keeps me from getting too hungry.
hope those ideas are a little helpful. also, don't beat yourself up about it, just decide to move forward. back sliding will happen, but if you dwell on it, they will prey on you, making it harder to be positive and make good choices. chin up! it's ok to make mistakes!0 -
You're not 'ruined' really, are you? Even if you have gained weight from that modest binge, a week's watching your calories would take it off again.
Try to keep a sense of perspective - you're at maintenance and you definitely need to keep from regaining your weight, but a day or two won't make a big difference in the long run.
Keep checking your scales/ measurements every so often. If thinks creep up, pop back here and do your thing until they're back down again.0 -

Good advice.0 -
Trust me, one day isn't going to make the weight come back. I'm maintaining as well, I have been over a few days and I am still at the same weight. Just don't make it an everyday thing.0

^Agreed! I did this awhile back with cookies and chips, and I know it'll happen with the holidays.0 -
Best advice I ever heard regarding this was "Do you really think you are going to eat an extra 3500 calories on top of your maintenance calories?" I feel the same. I highly doubt those crackers will be the end of you.. you are fine! About 20 lbs ago I felt the same way but since I eased up on myself and allowed myself to go over once a week or so I actually lost weight a little faster! It kept the plateau stuff from coming on.0

You've gotten a lot of good advice already
Don't beat yourself up, tomorrow IS a new day! And going over sometimes can actually help, that's what I've noticed
