Alcat Food Intolerance Test

I just got my results today from my food intolerance test. I was surprised to find some of my major intolerances include pork and cumin. I already knew about the wheat intolerance and egg yolks, but there are so many other foods on my list that are either moderate or mild intolerances.

My nutritionist now has me on a 4 day rotation diet to detox and eliminate the trigger foods I have been eating that are possibly causing fatigue, headaches, IBS symptoms, and major bloating. I am hoping this test is my answer to my problems, as I have done every test imaginable! This is really my last hope.

So...my question is this- has anyone had the Alcat test done and/or did the 4 day rotation? Did you feel better afterwards? I would love to hear some experiences!

I have been challenged with food intolerances my whole life, no true allergies. Hve always been told there are no tests for intolerances so I'm intruiged. Thx. I'll have to check this out. Did you get it through an MD or Naturopath?

I got it through my nutritionist who ordered it for me. I then went to a local lab to have the blood test and they shipped it to another lab for results. My insurance did not cover it, though, which was the only bad part. However, if I eliminate those severe intolerances and find that I am feeling much better it will be worth every penny! I believe they have a website with more info.

Not meaning to be rude, but could you let us know about how much a test like this costs?

Sure....it really depends on how much you want to be tested for. The one that I did was around $420. I'm not sure if I had a discount through my nutritionist or not, because the price is higher on the website. I was tested for over 200 foods, as well as some spices, medicinal herbs and some molds and chemicals. You can get tested for as many or as little amounts. It is basically testing for any sensitivities. Unfortunately my insurance did not cover it, but others might.
  • My RD has a test kit from a lab that screens 95 foods/ingredients for $140...that includes the kit to take to a lab, an overnight shipping label paid and then the results are emailed to her and she'll email them to me.

Here is the lab...maybe you can contact them and see if they know of any RDs/nutritionists in your area that they ship out their cases of kits too?

(it's under Allergies, Food Allergy Testing (this is the intolerance test)...I'm doing the Basic but they also have an extended one with 95 other foods/spices/ingredients you could do as well...don't know the price on that one.)

It lists what's tested on each panel too. :)
