Anyone have tips for staying on track

It seems I always have good intentions when starting - I plan an entire week of meals, I go shopping for healthy foods, I set my alarm to get up early and go to the gym - everything sounds perfect, right? It lasts for three days!! Then I hit the snooze, I have no desire to eat the healthy meals that I planned, it just goes south from there.

Anyone have tips for making it through at least a week without failing? I look in the mirror each morning and hate what I see, but I can't seem to make myself put forth the effort to change it.

you dont necessarily have to totally change your life in one day... you need to make small manageable changes that will become a healthier lifestyle over time.

find the best time to go to the gym (it doesnt have to be first thing in the morning if you arent a morning person)... and aim for 4 times a week so you have some flexibility if you miss a day, and just try adding more walking to your day, stairs instead of the lift etc etc

with your meals, try smaller portions and add fruit and veg instead of totally changing everything in one go.

aim for healthy 80% of the time... and enjoy the other 20%!!!!!

For me its so hard to wake up early to work out, is there any other time of the day you can get to the gym?

Be sure your healthy meals are also tasty. Don't be to strict with your diet, because as you have seen you just won't stick with it.

As far as motivators, when my jeans feel a little looser or i can wear a shirt that before i thought didn't look good, that sort of motivates me more. it only lasts a while, but it helps. you just have to make it there!

Otherwise, and I feel a of people may say this, don't try to change your whole life overnight. Maybe set a goal to wake up early and go to the gym once a week, then 2, then three. Buy the healthy foods, but let yourself eat some chocolate or jelly beans or whatever. No one diets for the rest of their life (hopefully) so make changes that are long term

Set small achievable goals for yourself. You'd be amazed how motivated you get once you've tasted some success!

I find that setting goals is working for me. Initially it was to get fit enough to do a sponsored half marathon walk, but now it is to fit into a favourite item of clothing that hasn't fitted since god knows when. I get such a high when I hit a goal that it spurs me on towards the next goal.

Also recommended is using a personal trainer at the gym, set a date a week or two weeks apart so that you have to show some improvement at each session.

    Good luck.

Your question so resonates with me! I was about to put a question up saying "Why is it that every Monday morning I am motivated and serious about this weight loss journey, but it lasts about 4 days? Come Friday and then the weekend, it all goes out of the window! How can I keep the motivation going?" Once again I sit here on a MOnday morning determined that this week WILL be different! Please feel free to add me as a friend and maybe we can motivate each other!!

You got to just dig deep and have will power hun and most importantly want it more than anything. I have lost weight over the years and put it back on. I got with a new partner and my weight crept up and I have lost a few pounds here and there. over the summer I lost about a 18lbs and then at the end of september I decided I wanted to seriously lose weight and feel better.

I joined my local weight watchers class on a tuesday night and I found this site on the same day. It has really helped me become inspired I count points but also calories. I have really stepped up my exercise and love the good feeling I get from it. Its not easy but once you start to see results and your body changing it really inspires you and keeps you motivated. You can do it I have had really good results in 8 weeks. I still have a way to go but I feel great for once and now feel like I can get to goal.

This site has helped keep me focused and I really love to share my achievements with everyone on here. I like to celebrate the achievements of others and feel really happy for those who are doing it. You can see people grow and learn from them.

Dont give up just make small changes dont put your body into a routine that your not going to stick with.

    Good luck honey xxx

I think with exercise it also helps a LOT if you find some exercise you really, really enjoy and kinda get hooked on that. I went through a lot of different types of exercise before finding circuit training, which really gives me a buzz- so it's not really a chore to do it 5x a week. It's also linking the buzz from the exercise to the buzz when you realise your clothes are looser and you have way more energy. If you really fall in love with exercise then you'll stick with it.

Not that it's impossible to lose weight without this, just think it helps a lot. You say you enjoy the feeling you get from it so stick with that! Good luck x
