Stretches

What are some good stretches for your lower back? It seems like whenever I workout, my lower back gets tight. I am assuming that I am not stretching it well enough.

Lay on the floor on your back, put your knees together and pull them up towards your chest, you'll feel your lower back stretch =)

This is one of my favorite stretches and I like to alternate this with spinal rolls

Of course know your limitations and do all stretches safely.

Most of the issues with lower back are surprisingly not just the back muscles. Many of the pains and issues stem from tight hamstrings and calves, and can also stem from hip issues. When they are tight you put more pressure on your lower back muscles.

Look into more dynamic types stretches rather than static (touching your toes). Statics stretches while cold can actually stress and hurt your muscles even more. But one of the best things..get a foam roller. Roll out your hamstrings, calves, glutes and your lower back. It can help relieve pain, but it also stretches those muscles that help loosen them and relieve the stress on your back . They are inexpensive and possibly one of the best investments you can make.
