Holy cow, I can't imagine this thing would be terribly accurate (or convenient)...but...has anyone tried it yet?

Would you have to be carrying it while you run? Seems a bit awkward...0

I saw a similar one for the iphone 4 today. Uses the camera and light...I was wondering myself0

interesting but sounds like you would have to just run in place if it has to be flat and see your face the whole time to detect the changes0

I've tried Heart Fitness... that is pretty accurate... I cross checked with my HRM AND by taking my pulse myself... maybe 1 or 2 beats variation....
Only used static...but ideal for doing Resting Heart Rate... Also Dad and others used it and matched with their anticipated and known RHRs which are very different to mine!0 -
Yah, that's the inconvenient thing -- you have to place it on a flat surface and sit or stand still in front of it for a few seconds. Now that I look at it more closely, it's kind of unfair to mention HRMs in the same breath with this thing. With this, you have to stop what you're doing...hold still for several seconds to take a measurement...then go back to what you were doing. It's not really going to do periodic measurements and translate it to calories burned or any of the things that a HRM purports to do.
However, it IS pretty amazing & neato! *grin0 -
I use: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/instant-heart-rate-by-azumio/id395042892?mt=8 on my iPhone. You just hold your finger on the camera lens and it does the same thing. This is not for sustained use, just for taking a snapshot heart rate. You would have to do further calculations from there.0
