Hello!
I am new to MyFitnessPal and have recently started C25K. In addition to C25K, I am looking to add in a little strength training and purchased the New York City Ballet Workout discs. Has anyone ever used them or is anyone familiar with them? I hope to do that workout a couple of days a week on top of C25K, if possible.
Thank you for any feedback!

I did ballet from the time I was 4 all the way through college. I haven't seen the NYCB video but if you've never had ballet training, I think any ballet workout video would be tough to follow. There is so much technique involved in doing the exercises correctly that without being in a studio, with a good instructor, you'll either get very little benefit or might actually injure yourself. Ballet isn't something you can jump into like most other exercises or learn properly by watching a video.
If you do have dance training, then it would probably be a great at-home workout. I used other ballet videos when I was younger and enjoyed them. Taking classes again is going to one of my rewards as I get closer to my goal weight.0 -

I do have dance training, but that was a long time ago! I don't think I would have any issue with the ballet workout other than it seems a little boring... I have decided to try 30 Day Shred and combine it with the C25K program that I am doing. I will always have my ballet workout on hand too.

I just started following the NYC Ballet Workout book about a month ago and I love it. It extremely well written, which limits the chance of misinterpretation and potential injury. The photographs are beautiful as well.
I also like Ballecore by Molly Weeks which I have just picked up.
However, I hesitate to try some of the Yoga positions without learning in studio first.
In comparison, the NYC Ballet Workout book is a better start since it is very clear and is designed for people at any fitness level, while the Ballecore book may be better accompanied with a DVD or attending a class.0
