Specifically for the Wii Fit aspect. Any thoughts? Has it helped/not helped anyone?

Thinking about freezing my gym membership for the summer since there will be much more outdoor time here in Seattle.

But, I do want something new that I can get up and do in the mornings while the house is still quiet or in the evenings after everyone is in bed.

I've taken to dancing around the house with my Ipod while cleaning in the evenings. Fun but not sure it's a real calorie burner.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I have one but only use it for weighing, yoga and strength exercises. I really didn't get a whole lot out of the cardio stuff. Go to the Message Boards section and do a search. There are a lot of threads about it on here.

I  my Wii Fit ~ honestly the Wii Fit is the only reason I even bought the Wii for my husband :blushing:

Currently I go to an Aqua Fit class twice a week (for 45min) and use my Wii Fit at least 2 days a week for 30min. I really think it's helped me ~ it's something that I was able to do in the comfort of my home that was fun and effective. Now that the weather's nicer, I'm also taking our new pup for a walk each night...

I certainly can't complain about my results so far.

If you actually ues it- it's fun! I don't do the cardio either but love the balance games and yoga (although a little awkward on the board and not at all zen like  ) I actually get more exercise from the Shawn White snowboarding game- it constantally engages your core while working your leggs and balance.

I have mixed feelings about the Wii Fit. I mainly use it for cardio. I do 10 minutes of hoola hoop and 20 minutes of running every day. I definitely burn a lot of calories and have noticed a huge difference in my waist line. I am not a fan of using it for the yoga and strength training because I feel that it takes too much time in between to do back to back sets, I like to keep moving and am kind of impatient. I also bought the Jillian Michaels game, but haven't done much with it yet. Again, I'm too impatient and didn't feel like it was accurately picking up my movements, so I kinda quit.

On another note...I'm so happy it's getting warm outside. I love taking the kids to the park and playing frisbee or football with the hubby while the kids play. Kickball is great too!

Yes yes yes! I love the Wii... I don't have a gym membership, the only exercise I've been getting the last month or so has been outside and on the Wii. I've lost about 8 pounds total. What I love is that it measures your BMI and weight daily and graphs it for you.

Some people complain that they don't lose weight on the balance games, but my posture and balance and coordination have really improved. And if you want to really burn calories, the aerobics are fun.

    *raves some more about Wii*

(Also I'm a little addicted to Zelda....)

If you already workout, I'd suggest getting the My Fitness Coach for Wii, instead of Wii Fit. It's more like an interactive workout DVD. There's a personal trainer, and the workouts are tailored to your needs, based on your profile information and a physical challenge. The workout exercises change every time you use it, so it's much better than just a regular DVD, with the same old workouts day after day. Google it, and you'll find more detailed info on it, but I think you'd be much happier with My Fitness Coach.
