I need some help toning my lower half.. my butt/thighs are my problem. My butt is not toned nor are my thighs. I am "skinny fat" down there and I want them to be toned and firm. I eat prettu healthy. I know I need to inccorporate exercise now. My favorite is cardio-running to be exact.
What would you suggest??

Squats and lunges and squats and lunges.0

I know personally for me taking up running again has helped to slim down my outer thighs and my husband says my butt has really shrunk.0
-
Try running up hills, also.0

Running has definitely helped me with my butt and thighs. So has skiing.0

I hate the term tone...
Running will eventually get rid of the jiggle because you will eventually lose the fat over all your body that causes said jiggle.
There is no spot reduction
Toning just means you lose the fat that is covering up the muscle you already have and/or are gaining.0 -
squats, lunges and strength training!!
cardio is great to get the heart rate up and burn the fat but you need to do more muscle exercises if you want to tone )0 -
Running did it for me. My husband said that he could tell my legs getting thinner and toner. Then lots of strength training0
-
i would suggest hill sprints for those areas. interval training helps burn fat much better than flat out running. you can also google HIIT training... it works great too!0

To engage the glutes, you need to bend your legs to a certain degree. ie.. the leg bend while sitting down. Running doesn't do this. The exercises mentioned already do this. Squats, deads, lunges etc....0

Losing fat yes, toning up, no. If you want to do it with running alone, incorporate lots of hills, but you'd be better off doing resistance training. Squat, lunges and step ups holding the heaviest weight you can manage 8 reps with.0

Running will dissolve the fat. Squats and lunges will build the gluteus & make it hard & firm. Running alone is generally not a muscle-building exercise, except perhaps in the calves.0
-
Oh yes, and kettlebell swings. Awesome for the inner thighs.0
-
I noticed biking also will tighten things up too...more in the booty area. Stationary bike and crank up the tension or bike outside and do some hills.0

Lower body strength training is a must! If not to tone....do it to strengthen the muscles around your knees to prevent running injuries!!
Yoga is another good way to 'tone' that people don't often think about. All the stretching and toning involved help firm up those thighs and butt!0 -
Running won't get rid of fat any better/worse than any other cardio type activity. Nor can it target any specific area.0
-
Squats and lunges and squats and lunges.
And deadlifts. And maybe step-ups.0 -
There's no such thing as toning0
-
Thanks to those with helpful advice! I appreciate it!0

If you are trying to get rid of fat to stop the jiggle, running is great. If you are trying to build muscle to stop the jiggle you'll probably have better success with strength or resistance training.0
-
I got lots of tone from a ski machine. For me, running doesn't change much of the jiggle. It's more of a calorie burner and good for lungs.0
-
yeah i just want jiggle gone... dont really care about building my glutes.. i just wanna melt that fat0
-
more muscle = more fat burn
Lift weights!0 -
Judging by your profile pics, I think you're getting really specific. You look smokin'. that little jiggle ain't going to hurt you.0
-
Squats, lunges, bridges, deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, KB swings, hip thursts.0
