TOO MUCH SUGAR!

Even when I am watching closely i have noticed since using MFP that i am going over on my sugar daily... from simple things like FRUIT which all adds up.I can not use ANY artificial sweetners , so my yogurts etc are limited as to which i can eat..
anyone else having trouble with Sugar? I never thought i did and now i realize this is a HUGE part of my problem. I do love that MFP was so easy to use and pinpoint where i need to work ... How do you get around "SUGAR" so evil!

Fruits are a 'good' sugar, but I limit my intake on them because they are so high in sugars.0

If you're eating fruits and complex sugars, I wouldn't worry about it too much. On the other hand if you're eating a lot of refined sugars (like soda and candy) that's when you should be aware of your sugar intake0

I can't do artificial sweetners either. I use agave syrup for liquid drinks and eat plain yogurt with a serving of jam (check the jar) stirred into it. Hope that helps.0

Right there with ya! I was diagnosed with insulin resistance, so I have to be VERY careful about sugar & carbs. I do use a lot of artificial sweeteners, though, 'cause I have a sweet tooth, and they don't seem to bother me...
First of all, I've started avoiding "low-fat" items. When they remove the fat, it tastes like cardboard, so what do they generally do? Add sugar. Compare the carbs & sugar on full-fat vs. non-fat versions of the same brand, and it's pretty obvious. With my metabolism, I'd rather eat the fat than the sugar.
I've found that some fruits & veggies have more sugar & carbs than others, so if I stick to the lower-sugar ones, I can get more bang for my buck. The more I limit my sugars in *all* food, the more leeway I have to indulge in fruits I enjoy.
Veggies: no corn (which is really a grain, not a veggie, anyway), no tomatoes (which are a fruit), no peas, beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, or below-ground veggies in general. Instead, I eat leafy greens, spinach, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, mushrooms.
Fruits: I severely limit my fruit, and eat mostly tart berries.
Yogurt: plain full-fat Greek yogurt has the most calcium & protein & the fewest sugars/carbs. To season it, try a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, or just cinnamon.

fyi... very few refined sugars ... almost all from fruit , been trying really hard to continue to add veggies in whenever i can instead of reaching for another fruit...

Not all sugar is the same. Fruit sugar is fructose, processed sugar (sucrose) is made up of both glucose and fructose. Fructose breaks down more slowly in the body; sugar and insulin levels remain relatively constant. Fructose puts a lot less stress on the body than sucrose, and most fruits have a low glycemic index.
Unless you are a diabetic and your doctor tells you to avoid fruits, then I would still eat it for its other healthy properties and not worry about the sugars.0 -

I noticed the same thing. I eat an apple and two fresh dates and I'm over for the day!!!
I thought I'd be over on carbs but no, it's sugars!
There are nice sugar free yogurts you can get, so I've switched to those.
I've also noticed that I earn extra sugars if I exercise, so that's one way to even things out.0
