I am a very avid reader; I especially love reading while I am on the tredmill or the stationary bike, or even if a bubble bath after a powerful workout. I know I am not the only reader out there in the world because I have made friends on here that are readers!
This is what I want to know:
What is your favorite book/series?
What is your favorite author?
What book/series would you recommend to anyone and everyone?
My answers:
My favorite book is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
My favorite book series is the Donut Shop Mystery Series by Jessica Beck
My favorite author is Victoria Laurie
The book I would recommend is Lamb by Christopher Moore
The series I would recommend is Ghost Hunter Mystery Series by Victoria Laurie
On a side note to all those who enjoy reading, Ann McCaffery passed away today, keep her family and loved ones in your thoughts/prayers. I know I personally own 5 of her books.

Lately I'm into Lee Child books. Seriously I can't get enough of them. I also like Clive Cussler and any other fun action packed mystery.
Loved the Girl books (you know kicked the hornets nest, dragon tattoo and played with fire).
I also loved the Water for Elephants book.
Good luck I know I didn't quite fulfill your list but0 -
I love reading! But I honestly don't think I could even pick a favorite...I have too many! But I really love Stephen King...he's probably one of my favorites. I read all kinds of books though...I don't stick to one genre. Do you have a goodreads account?0

I love the Horatio Hornblower series by CS Forester and of course Jane Austin is my favorite author. I currently am reading the Temeraire series, which I would recommend (Steven Jackson bought the screen rights to it so it can't be too bad, right?) I should have been born at the turn of the century, 1800 that is.0

I, too am an avid reader. I LOVE the Harry Potter series. Favorite author - James Patterson.
Great questions. I'm definitely going to check out some of your favorites, too. And does anyone have an opinion on the best e reader? Kindle Fire or the new Nook?0 -

Did you know the author had already passed away before these books were published? His friend or family member (I can't remember which) published them after his passing. But I really love Stephen King...he's probably one of my favorites.
I have only read one of his books, one of the short story books. Some of the stuff I find is foolish and makes me laugh, but there are a few that spark my interest. Sadly he is the only book I have ever fallen asleep reading! I would love to read another book by him though! What would you recommend? I would love to read another one of his books and actually enjoy it.0 -
Clive Cussler / Tom Clancy / Matthew Reilly for action style books,
James Patterson / John Grisham for more... detecting / lawyer style...
Anne McCaffreys PERN series is quite awesome.
Big on self-sufficiency titles right now too, reading on canning / pressure canning / storing my gardens produce...
ETA - damn I missed the McCaffrey tip in the OP... didn't realize that, I wonder if that means we'll finally get Dragonriders of PERN authorized for TV as she didn't like the direction they were taking it and had kept creative control / final refusal. I lucked into someone selling off their collection of her books this summer, that gave me 25+ of her books and I know theres a lot more that I don't have.0 -
And does anyone have an opinion on the best e reader? Kindle Fire or the new Nook?
I sell all of these at work, all four kindles and two of the nooks.
I personally would want the simple and basic kindle/e-reader. I personally do not own one, but now they are turning more tablet based than anything. With the Kindle you can get A LOT more books than you can with the Nook. Nook is strictly B&N where as Kindle you get the same stuff PLUS more 99.9% of the time0 -

Go with a Kindle if you want something that functions like a book without lugging them all around with you, if I want to surf the net I'll get on my desktop or my laptop I don't need my e-reader to be able to do all that too. Of course I'm not a fan of a cell-phone having a phone either, or a tv with a built in DVD player or VCR.. when one part fails you either do without the entire thing to get that one part addressed or live without it anyway. I've yet to see a phone that takes pictures as good as a stand-alone digital camera...0

I kind of want an e-reader, I hinted at it to my mother, but I still love the hold and the touch of the books. That and if I drop one in the bathtub it is not a lot to buy a new one LOL0

Another King fan here. lol A book I really liked was Geralds Game. Its not fast paced...the whole book is basically the thoughts inside someones head, but I got pulled into it. My husband likes Lisey's Story (also by king).
I need to branch out in my reading. Most of the books I read are the horror/mystery. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, so I'll probably be lurking this thread looking for ideas. Its really hit or miss for me, I could not read the Harry Potter books (but I like the movies) , they just put me to sleep, but someone recommend The Help and that was an awesome read.0 -
I am really looking for a book to scare the **** out of me while reading it, but enjoying it at the same time.0

Lisa Gardner, detective type with super unexpected twists( she has another pen name too but forgot it)
Ann Rule- based on true crimes0 -
I also love reading. I purchased a Kindle last year and have read heaps of books.
I don't have a fav author but I do have a fave series..
Twilight. This series really had me glued to it. I read when I'm not busy and work and when I was reading Twilight, when I got a job, I hated to have to out it down. I'm a taxi driver so I'm lucky that I can claim part cost of my Kindle as a tax deduction.0 -
Reminds me though I've got 2 books and an unabridged audio book out from the library I should get reading them rather than the various websites that will be here long after the books have reached their due-date at the library.0
