ok so i walk since i dont drive but one thing i've noticed is i always have pain in my calves if i walk uphill or for a long time. it doesnt feel like a cramp and i have tryed eating potassium to counter act it if it is a cramp. it feel like someone is pinching me hard right under my mucsle. as it is my calves are "huge" (to me) i am sure theyre in order with the rest of me but because i am over weight my dr wont take me seriously about the pain and tells me to walk more and stretch.

i just wanted to know does anyone else feel this pain is it normal?

Do you wear high heels? Try stretching your calves a couple times a day and up your water intake.

you are saying you walk on a regular basis? or is this something new? I think I know what you mean, but it would be from overworking the muscles; which would be unusual if you have been walking the same distance for a long while now. Can you take a bus for a while, or ride a bike? Anything different to give the calves a bit of a break. Perhaps you overworked them in a workout and are feeling it when you walk.

    Research shin splints.

Pain is not normal and should never be considered normal. Pain is your body's way of telling you it doesn't like what you are doing.

Your calves are big due to muscle mass. (the more overweight you are the more lean muscle mass you have from your body carrying the weight). As you drop weight you will also drop lean body mass.

I noticed you are a cashier, so I assume you also stand all day. do you have a pad for your feet at register, do you wear good sturdy shoes? Just more little things to check out.

New walking shoes might help, but if it only started when you started walking more it could just be muscle soreness, when I started walking long distances my calf’s would get a bit uncomfortable. If it’s a lot of pain slow down a bit, if its tolerable I just walked threw the pain. If its just uphill it depends how steep the hill is think about how it feels when you walk up 10 flights of stairs on your tip toes your calf’s will burn.

i used to have pain like that walking uphill as well as your body gets used to it it should go away, if not talk to your doctor.
