Thanksgiving Food Shame

Or for that matter, holiday food shame. Anyone else getting a little tired of it? It's food. You can eat it or not; you have the power and the choice. I know that will power is an issue for a lot of people, including myself. I know that it's really easy to eat large amounts of delicious numminess. I also know that going on for days before the feast, fretting and worrying about what to eat and how much to eat and ZOMG gaining 15 pounds after a meal (yes, it's exaggerated, but we've seen it) is NOT going to increase your enjoyment of the holiday.
Why not just relax, eat if you want to eat, eat WHAT you want to eat, and then take a break from beating yourself up and instead focus on more important things- Like engaging in the ever fun debate of why Christmas decorations were out at Halloween.

I agree Holidays come but once a year enjoy and be with family if that is a possibility. Just give all the left overs away and don't take any home unless its Turkey or veggies and a sliver of cheese cake(did I say cheesecake? didn't mean to say it out loud) no cheesecake. Enjoy your holidays there are 360 other days to be careful of your intake0

Yeah, I hate this time of year because everywhere I go online people are moaning about their weight, what they ate, etc. and my Inbox is full of "helpful" advice for 'getting through the holidays' most of which involve making weird choices that don't make that much difference.
Here's the thing. Thanksgiving and Christmas are ONE DAY. You aren't going to do anything drastic to your health based on what you eat for one day. Plus, things like pumpkin pie aren't actually that calorific. (A piece of Sara Lee Pumpkin Pie with a generous dollop of whipped cream is under 300 calories.)
So eat the damn pie! Or not. But just don't whine about it whichever one you choose. And go for a walk before or after dinner or otherwise plan some activity as part of your celebrations.0 -
Cheeesseeee cakkkkkee.... *drool* I'm pretty sure there's a bacon wrapped smoked turkey that will be turning up on the table tomorrow. Cheesecake would be the perfect accompaniment. hmm.0
